Inspired by the life of Francis of Assisi and the Work That Reconnects as taught by Joanna Macy, Canticle Farm provides a platform for the Great Turning –the planetary shift from an industrial-growth society to a life-sustaining society– one heart, one home, and one block at a time. The Farm is a comprised of five houses on three lots between 36th Avenue and Harrington Avenue in the Fruitvale District of Oakland, California. We’ve removed the fences between the houses and grow much of our own food there as well as participate in community service in the larger neighborhood through a variety of projects. Canticle Farm manifests this commitment to living and working towards more sustainable alternatives through spiritual practice, integral nonviolence, gift economy, restorative practices, urban permaculture, education and other work necessary for regenerating community in the 21st Century.
Greater Boston Work That Reconnects Community
This group is comprised of people who have experienced at least an introductory level Work That Reconnects workshop and would like to go deeper and experience the Work on an ongoing basis. The group meets every four months for a full day to experience the spiral, practice facilitating, and expand skills. On off months, the group meets for a potluck dinner on the third Thursday of the month. Members take turns hosting and facilitating. They also aim to offer periodic introductory workshops for the public.
Joanna Macy Center at Naropa
The Joanna Macy Center at Naropa seeks to advance the vision and legacy of Dr. Joanna Macy’s work in order to empower present and future generations in building a more resilient world that works for all. They focus on three specific areas: Joanna’s roots teachings known as the Work That Reconnects, Liberation Buddhist scholarship, and Nuclear Guardianship. The Center is a platform for further advancement of and training in the Work That Reconnects within Naropa University, the local community and the world at large. They seek to create opportunities for research on her theories of the confluence of the Buddhist teachings and general systems theory, and the resulting social impact; and also foster her vision around Nuclear Guardianship by promoting education and training of future Nuclear Guardians.

The Work that Reconnects Monthly Circle
The Work that Reconnects Circle is a grassroots monthly gathering which provides space for studying, practicing and building community around the Work that Reconnects in Montreal. The circle includes time for personal sharing, discussion on the reading, and guided experiential exercises. Come and enjoy some nourishing time for self-care and reconnection!
Since January 2013, this monthly practice Circle has been hosted by volunteer community members, and facilitated on donation by longtime Work that Reconnects facilitator, Rebekah Hart. Part of the vision of this monthly gathering has been to build community, skills and capacity in the Work that Reconnects. As a community, we are committed to integrating anti-oppression consciousness into the heart of this work. We hope our circle will become a circle within many circles, which will widen and grow!
Please note that the Work that Reconnects monthly circle is on hiatus this year while Rebekah finishes her studies. Some community events may still be organized by other community members, and Rebekah looks forward to offering regular circles again next year!
Work That Reconnects LFK
A budding group of activists, healers, and artists that meets once a month for a 3-hour workshop of WTR practices in Lawrence f*cking Kansas (it's a local thing -- but you could guess what we mean ;). We're also talking about having a book/study club, regular potlucks, organizing trainings, and weekend/day retreats.
Work That Reconnects Men's Group
We are a group of men primarily in the Pacific Northwest who have experienced the Work That Reconnects as taught by root teacher Joanna Macy. We meet periodically to practice the work at various locations, including our homes as well as camping outdoors. If you are interested please contact us by email.
Work That Reconnects Monthly Practice Circle
The Elm Dance, taken from Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects, is a sweet, simple community ritual. Through the community dance and other practices, we are supported and inspired to change the destructive course of human activity by recognizing how much power we actually have to heal our world and ourselves. $10, suggested donation. All are welcome. Rhea Wolf is our guide. She has been practicing and facilitating Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects for over a decade.
