Active Hope Grows in China

Frieda Nixdorf · Mar 10, 2020 · Leave a Comment

The Work That Reconnects Network recently received this report from Active Hope practitioners, Helen Sui and Sally Wu, on behalf of a group of 21 supporters and 15 translators, who are spreading Active Hope in China.

We are very honored to be part of the global news. It will also warm our Chinese community members’ hearts because we found each other through this madness crisis.

Since early February when the Coronavirus started spreading around, Miss Ye Jing, an Active Hope practitioner, called up an online Active Hope event whereby people hear about and experience Active Hope. The announcement of the event went out on the same day and 55 people showed up. After the event, 20 more practitioners responded and joined the initial team with a purpose to promote Active Hope to support people to re-connect with the self, others and universe, take actions for their hopes and get through this critical time. Of course, we also hope that the Active Hope spirit will carry on even after the virus is under control.

So far over the past 15 days, more than 10 events have taken place for around 800 people. The size of events range from less than 10 to more than 100. And it continues. With the success of the event, we have re-started the social media account and translation of the book into Chinese. We’ll continue to bring Active Hope to as many people as possible.

We’d like to send our gratitude and appreciation to our dearest Joanna and Hide San. Dear Joanna made all this happen on the earth and dear Hide San brought the seed to China and it’s now growing forth.

Another good news is that Miss Ye Jing also led 15 people as the translation team, which completed 13 chapters translation of the book Active Hope within a month’s time. We also published a few of Joanna’s online videos with bilingual subtitles on Chinese social media, so more locals will find your work and get in touch with the work you did for the world. We hope, through the translation, we can deeply understand the essence of Active Hope, and provide this root resource to people in China.

Here are the regular actions we are maintaining weekly:

  • Every Thursday – 2 hours online experimental learning session free of charge for someone who is new to Active Hope.
  • Every Sunday – 2 hours online experimental learning session 100RMB/person for whoever has attended 1st one. ( The money will be used as part of the foundation for publish Active Hope in China )
  • Every Tuesday and Friday – WeChat publishes articles related to Active Hope and Joanna’s video.

All events above have 2 hosts, 2 organizers, and group co-facilitators.

Once a week and every other week, different working teams such as the translation team (11 people), publish team (3 people), meet separately to review the work we have done. Then the big support team (21 people) hold a meeting to reflect the feedback we received and what are the future actions we shall take.

We are currently using WeChat ( similar to Facebook ) as main social media publish Active Hope articles in Chinese. Here is the latest release link for your reference.

Officially, we only have 292 subscribe fans so far. We can ensure that The Work That Reconnects really works well, even just for 2 hours through zoom! We often hear very passionate and gratified comments after the online sessions. This group of people who have never met has become a connected community.

We will share with you more great news about how the power of the work that reconnects created a great turning!
