“At the core of each life’s journey is one question that we are born to pursue.” – Carl Jung

In this time of significant vulnerability, there are many reasons why our gifts can get caught in a web of inner paralysis, inhibiting us from giving our unique offerings to the Great Turning.

Doubt, fear, numbness, confusion, access to resources, and the daily energy needed to mediate the harms of a white-supremacist-military-industrial-capitalist-complex are all reasons we need community support to nurture ecosystems that will liberate our gifts.

But there is good news. You are, even now, in collaboration with millions of people to preserve life on this planet. And they are rooting for you to occupy your place in The Great Turning.

Over the past five decades, Joanna Macy has created a body of teachings and group work that helps participants transform despair and apathy, in the face of overwhelming social and ecological crises, into constructive, collaborative action. This work, called the “Work That Reconnects,” brings a fresh way of seeing the world as our larger living body, freeing us from the assumptions and attitudes that now threaten the continuity of life on Earth.

“I am not John Seed protecting the rainforest. I am the rainforest, in human form, protecting itself.”- John Seed

Please join us for this eight-week book group series revolving around Macy’s recent publication, A Wild Love for the World, which documents 37 global citizens who have been inspired by Macy’s work to create change in their home communities.

We will couple these readings with “Work that Reconnects” practices, as well as principles from adrienne maree brown’s “Emergent Strategy,” to help you discover and energize your unique and essential purpose in the Great Turning. We may not know what will happen, but as Macy teachers, that uncertainty can drop us into our truest intention, independent of outcome.

To help guide us on this journey of discovery, we will bring in special guests, including Joanna Macy and deep ecology-activist John Seed, to inspire us with how they have awakened and lived out their contributions to The Great Turning.

“I…sense the relief of being heard and of hearing, at last, one’s own voice speak what only it can speak.” – Joanna Macy, A Wild Love for the World
