Join us for an interactive, in-person Book Group based on the new edition of Active Hope. We will be gathering for six Sundays at a private home in Grass Valley, CA. We plan to meet outside on a lovely patio with the option to go indoors in the event of weather or smoke.

Let’s connect in community and engage in the practices of the Work That Reconnects brought forth by Joanna Macy. Whether you are new to the work or an active practitioner, we welcome you!

Active Hope is about finding, and offering, our best response when facing concerns about our world situation. It offers tools that help us face the mess we’re in, as well as find and play our role in the collective transition, or Great Turning, towards a society and way of being that support the flourishing of life.

– Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone

WHAT TO EXPECT:

☀️ We will be taking a deep dive into the new edition of Active Hope, by Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone
☀️ Deepen your experience of the foundational practices of the Work That Reconnects
☀️ Develop further tools and compassionate ways to guide you in meeting and dismantling systems of oppression
☀️ Build skills and confidence in presencing and deep listening
☀️ Clarify your path forward in response to the climate and ecological emergency
☀️ Gather with other members of the community who are meeting in solidarity, this critical moment of climate-political-societal chaos, uncertainty and possibility

Books about social and ecological change too often leave out a vital component: how do we change ourselves so that we are strong enough to fully contribute to this great shift? Active Hope fills this gap beautifully, guiding readers on a journey of gratitude, grief, interconnection, and, ultimately, transformation.

– Naomi Klein, author of This Changes Everything
