About this event
***Note: Workshop will be capped at 30 participants!
You are invited to attend a very special day-long workshop to awaken our senses and summon healing and courage on behalf of life.
Led by Lydia Violet Harutoonian, an Iranian-American scholar, facilitator, and artist, who has spent the past 13 years studying with activist/wisdom keeper Joanna Macy. Lydia will be offering Macy’s group work, the “Work That Reconnects” (WTR), which for 45 years has helped thousands transform grief, fear, and powerlessness into resilience, healing, and fortitude.
We will also engage in the time-honored tradition of community singing, which has been used for millennia to help us “wake up” after periods of community isolation and hardship. It will be a pleasure to finally be able to sing with you!
Singing in a council of friends is one of the most healthful, encouraging, invigorating, and nourishing things that we know. Community singing is part of a long legacy of community resilience resources, and Lydia comes equipped with a healthy library of songs for encouraging grace and solidarity. All singing is optional and open to music-makers of all levels!
This workshop is intended to help heal the paralysis and panic many have felt as we traversed the landscape of our global pandemic of the past 19 months. Our goal is to offer our best tools of body and mind in service to community healing.
Location: Lady Luck Gardens
Schedule: Saturday October 30th, 2021
9:30am – 5:00pm
Includes one-hour lunch break!
Cost: $95, which includes tea and snacks for the day.
Covid Considerations: We are sensitive to the current grave situation with Covid in the United States. We believe that this kind of work is important, however, and can and should be undertaken in a safe manner. Therefore, we have instituted a number of Covid safety protocols that we are serious about enforcing for both events. Please bring either proof of vaccination or a 72 hour negative PCR test, and we will be conducting on-site rapid testing the morning of the event. We will also be capping our attendance at 30 people. Thank you for helping us be able to gather in a good way!
In solidarity,
Lydia
