Beyond yourself: how your practice impacts the world- Más allà de ti: cómo tu práctica impacta en el mundo
November 9, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CET
Event Overview
Talk by David Loy (in English with translation) followed by a workshop with Eli Dalmau and Carola García (in Spanish) to reflect and integrate based on Joanna Macy’s The Work That Reconnects.
Open and free activity.
David Loy: Professor of Ethics, Religion, and Society at Bunkyo University, Japan, renowned Buddhist philosopher David Loy has attained the rank of master in the Zen tradition and is the author of seminal books such as No Duality, The Great Awakening, and Money, Sex, War, and Karma, which range from Buddhist social theory to a political proposal for revolution based on dharma. Among other activities, he serves on the advisory boards of Buddhist Global Relief, Clear View Project, Zen Peacemakers, and the Ernest Becker Foundation. https://www.davidloy.org/index.html
At the root of our world crisis lies disconnection: people separated from each other (the view of being more than others), from the natural world (forgetting the interconnectedness of everything and its consequences), and from ourselves (with no time to stop and look within).
Contemplative practices help us relate to the emotions that naturally arise in difficult times; Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects gives us the strength and inspiration we need to go further and act on behalf of life.
