Emergence during a Climate Emergency, with The Work That Reconnects

The Work That Reconnects is a form of group workd designed to cultivate the intention and ability to take part in the healing of our world. The challenges we currently face when we look at the world around us are huge. It can be devastating to be confronted with the climate crisis, and its effects on life on planet earth. We may experience frustration, anger, despair, numbness, or simply the wish to turn away from it all.

We can choose a different response. Let’s give space to emergence during a climate emergency. Every crisis also is an opportunity to generate our resilience, to bring forth our courage, creativity and care. It may ask us to dig deeper into our own inner resources. We don’t have to do this alone. We can link up with a growing number of people, organisations, and networks who contribute to a regenerative world, with creativity, skill and dedication. We too can be part of the Great Turning, in our own unique way.

Content

We engage with The Work That Reconnects, originated by Joanna Macy. We use the format of the Spiral as our framework:

• We will focus on GRATITUDE in our life, building up resilience as we do so.
• We give space to HONOUR OUR PAIN for the world, as grieving is an essential part of stepping into wholeness.
• We will shift our perspective though SEEING WITH NEW EYES.
• In GOING FORTH, we explore our vision of the world we do want to live in, and identify steps we are willing and able to take.

This event is for you if you: 

• Are concerned about the state of the world, from climate crisis, and all the other threats to our survival.
• Are concerned about your local bio region.
• Are affected in your personal life by broader issues.
• Deal with anxiety, anger, fear or numbness.
• Are willing to engage with inner work.
• Want to make a difference in your own life and your surroundings.
• Want to join a group of people for interactive and experiential sessions in a safe and supportive space.

Course structure

• Four facilitated sessions, bi-weekly, 2 hours each.
• Four buddy group sessions, bi-weekly, 1 hour each with peers.
• Participants will receive reading material, and inspirational videos related to The Work That Reconnects.
• Keep a learning journal
• Engage with individual activities to deepen the learning.

Dates Facilitated sessions: Thursday May 16, 30, June 13, 27, in 2024. Time: 7-9pm BST (UK), 

Peer session dates will be decided in your buddy group.

Cost: £150 / £125 / £100 – sliding scale 

There are three prices, in order to make this course available to all:

• £150: Generosity price: to financially support those without the means to participate.
• £125: Sustainable price: the regular price to sustain this course.
• £100: Subsidised price, for those on low income and in need of financial assistance.

Margo van Greta is a pioneer of holistic spirituality and a facilitator of transformation, creating a safe and supportive space for deepening the inner journey. She met Joanna Macy in 2000, fell in love with the Work That Reconnects. It combines he roles as a social activist, Ecovillage resident and Buddhist practitioner.  She facilitates courses based on Active Hope and The Work That Reconnects, both on site and online, and created the Work That Reconnects Facilitator Training..

Since 1991 she lives and works in the Findhorn Ecovillage Community in Scotland, UK. She is passionate about integrating spiritual practice in daily life, and created Heartbeat Findhorn: Inner Work for Outer Action.

She is a Buddhist practitioner since 1987, teaches Buddhism, facilitates individual sessions Feeding Your Demons and guides the Transformation Game. She lives in a beautiful small eco house, and loves her daily walks to the beach.
