Empower Your Work That Reconnects Facilitation for a New Year

Event Overview
In this half-day event, seasoned facilitator Lydia Violet Harutoonian will lead an introduction to facilitating the Work that Reconnects (WTR), Joanna Macy’s experiential group work that has helped thousands find clarity of vision and emotional sanctuary while living through this precious and precarious moment on our planet.
Lydia will cover:
– Basic points of Work that Reconnects facilitation
– The theoretical foundations and teachings from Joanna Macy that shape this work
– Ways to integrate WTR into your current work – perhaps as a teacher, therapist, activist, healer, artist, or anything else!
– We will also participate in a WTR practice together.
Plus, you’ll have time to:
– Connect with the other emerging and experienced facilitators who attend
– Ask your facilitation questions
Through both experiencing and studying exercises and teachings from the WTR, you will leave with tools for facilitating the foundational exercises, as well as personal plans for further development, resourcing, and education.
Over the course of the day, Lydia will cover “The Spiral” of the Work that Reconnects: moving through Gratitude, Honoring our Pain, Perceiving in New & Ancient Ways, and Going Forth. This roadmap provides psychological resourcing in challenging times, and is central to the skills and teachings the Facilitator Development offers. Articles and readings on some of the critical lineages that feed the WTR will be provided beforehand, including systems theory, deep ecology, and spiritual ecology.
Lydia Violet Harutoonian, M.A. has studied dedicatedly with deep ecology elder and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy for the past 15 years, learning how we can metabolize planetary despair, anxiety, and community traumas into energy for resilience, action, and community healing. She founded and runs The School for The Great Turning, to help continue the legacy of Macy’s work, and create access to an education that will empower humanity’s life-sustaining legacy.
