Using Joanna Macy’s spiral from the “Work That Reconnects” as a personal, communal and planetary spiritual practice, we find a wellspring of gratitude, an altar on which to honor our pain, a fresh perspective to re-envision the ways we live together, and the courage and strength to step forth with faith into what is yet unseen. This workshop will include diving deeper into the second step of WTR, “honoring our pain” and the fourth step, “going forth”.
Our day will begin with an opening ritual to place us at the service of the Divine and includes music, “exercises” using WTR and time for personal reflection. The closing ceremony is for honoring the community gathered as we experience being called forward to engage in “what is ours to do” regarding the climate crisis.
Martha O’Hehir is an ordained interfaith Eco-Chaplain, educator, and writer. As a facilitator of retreats and Joanna Macy’s WTR, she aspires to nurture growth in consciousness and to promote Earth stewardship and the practice of mutual belonging.
