Once You Know International Film Release and WTR Experience: Trainings for Facilitators
Oct 7 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT
One event on Oct 7, 2021 at 5:00 pm
And we want YOU to join in on the experience!
Registered WTR Network Facilitator Members* are invited to host a screening of this moving film and facilitate a post-screening WTR experience specially designed to accompany it.
Inspired by the Work That Reconnects, Extinction Rebellion and Collapsology, this film is a deeply personal exploration of coming to terms with crisis, collapse and active hope in these troubling times.
How you can be involved in this International Film Release…
1) Attend the training hosted by the WTR Network and the filmmaker’s team to learn more.
2) Sign up to host a screening and facilitate a post-screening WTR experience.
3) Gather a group of friends, community members and good hearted people.
4) Share your private screening link with them or invite them over to watch the film together in person.
5) Follow the film by facilitating the WTR experience designed to accompany it (either in person or via Zoom).
The WTR Network will host two trainings on October 7th for WTR Facilitators* who are interested in being part of this project.
Filmmaker Emmanuel Cappellin will be with us during the training to talk about the film and his vision for carrying this Work into the world. WTR facilitators, Charlotte Ogier and Brianne Parquier, will also be present to share the post-screening WTR experience they designed to accompany the film and lead us in a few of the practices so we can experience it for ourselves. They will share the resources and materials we’ll need to facilitate our own post-screening events.
At the end of the training, Jo delAmor and Kathleen Rude, of the WTR Network, will share the details of how you can sign up to host your own screening and post-screening WTR event to participate in this coordinated international film release experience. The Network will provide all promotional materials and publicize these events to our worldwide audience.
Screenings and post screening events can be done virtually or in person. These events promise to be an engaging way to connect with people who are new to the Work That Reconnects and invite them into deeper WTR experiences. They’ll also be a stimulating way to explore the depths of our responses to facing systems’ collapse with resilience within our communities of long-time practitioners of the Work.
When you register for the training you’ll receive a private link to preview the film. Please watch the film prior to the training so you’re prepared and inspired to participate.
* Facilitators must be registered as Facilitator Members with the WTR Network to host a screening
** Great thanks and acknowledgement to Sarah Nahar and Mordechai Liebling for designing this system of training and mini-events that we’re modeling after the 2020 Post Election Mini Spiral series that they hosted.
About the Film…
A second training will be offered on October 7th from 5-7pm PDT for those who aren’t able to attend the first training. The filmmaker and WTR facilitators from France will not be there live but WTR Network representatives will share their recorded presentations from the first training and walk participants through the logistics of the program.
Once You Know asks the disturbing questions: Are there better ways of collapsing than others? What is meaningful work on the way down? Director Emmanuel Cappellin is obsessed with how to best respond personally and collectively.
His quest leads him around the world to meet five of the world’s leading climate scientists and energy experts. They share with him the truth, chaos, and hope in their work. They allow him to challenge everything he took for granted – from growth-based democracies to personal freedoms. More information…
“A triumph. With rare aesthetic taste, it delivers the facts about our accelerating climate chaos with an almost tender respect for those of us confronting the crisis. Unforgettable portraits of climate leaders in Bangladesh, France, and the US, help make our own choices clear. They leave me feeling inspired to lead a life that is relevant to this global movement.”
— Joanna Macy, featured in A Wild Love for the World: Joanna Macy and the Work of Our Time
“Extraordinary and necessary film. A poetic journey into the teeth of collapse that leaves us with one question: how will I comport myself during this time?”
— Dahr Jamail, author of The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the path of Climate Disruption
“A beautiful, heart-breaking, and ultimately affirming journey into the grim future we all face. Once You Know confronts our global trajectory of ecological and civilizational collapse and doesn’t flinch or reach for false hope, but helps find a way to live with a truth we cannot unsee.”
— Roy Scranton, Author of Total Mobilization: World War II and American Literature
