Sacred Activism: This is What an Elder Looks Like!
Oct 15 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm PDT
An event every 6 weeks that begins at 2:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until Nov 19, 2020
This 6 session workshop is based on the work of Joanna Macy and Zalman Schachter Shalom
In this 6-session webinar, we will explore what is meant by “sacred activism” using the paradigm of the Work That Reconnects, as developed by Joanna Macy; as we delve into Rabbi Zalman Schachter’s teachings on Spiritual Eldering – going beyond developing ourselves as elders, to create legacies, mentor, and provide the elder perspective that is sorely needed in this troubled world.
Sacred activism is a response to our deeply-held concerns for the world — our desire to act using the compassion and the wisdom we have attained through our many years of life experience; and to discern and stand for the morals, values and imperatives needed for the benefit of all. We will courageously seek new eyes to see our world and the interconnected nature of all life, discover and cultivate our voices as elders in the public sphere – whether that is at our dining room table, community meeting or City Council hearings; and, address why it is so critical that we, as elders, embrace this call to action during the autumn of our years. Finally, we will explore how to use our unique gifts and voices to create a more just and thriving world.
