This Earth Day, imagine an economy that encourages a thriving planet…
Della Duncan is a renegade economist visiting from the San Francisco Bay Area to guide us in an exploration of Regenerative Economics through quotes, poems, and real-world case studies. Together, we will look at the stories and beliefs behind the numbers, challenge mainstream economic assumptions, and integrate insights and inspirations from living alternatives in our lives and livelihood journeys.
Join us for a transformational group process that builds motivation, connection, solidarity and vision, renewing the courage to act for the healing of our world. In these times of climate chaos, rampant inequality, systemic racism, and other daily catastrophes, there is a tension between our desire to take urgent action and our need to process reality on a deeper level.
We often experience despair, anger, fear, and burnout as we navigate this tension, and at times it feels easier to turn away and close ourselves off. Yet it is through reconnection with ourselves and others, and acknowledging the reality of these times, that we can find hope and the courage to continue.
The Work that Reconnects (WTR) is both a process for transforming our despair into purposeful action, as well as a deep well of nourishment to continue. Through a series of creative and experiential exercises, The Work that Reconnects opens space for radical truth-speaking and personal and collective empowerment. Drawing on deep ecology, systems theory, and spiritual traditions, this open-source body of work is rooted in the teachings and experiential methods of Joanna Macy.
Della Z Duncan is Renegade Economist who supports individuals working to better align their values with their work as a Right Livelihood Coach, offers consulting to organizations contributing to equitable and sustainable economic systems change, and hosts the Upstream Podcast, challenging mainstream economic thinking through documentaries and interviews including the following audio documentaries: Debunking the Myth of Homo-Economicus, Feminism for the 99 Percent, and Worker Cooperatives: Widening Spheres of Democracy. Della is also a Senior Fellow of Social and Economic Equity at the International Inequalities Institute in the London School of Economics, the Course Development Manager of Fritjof Capra’s Capra Course on the Systems View of Life, a Gross National Happiness Master Trainer, a founding member of the Doughnut Economics California Coalition (DECC), a Senior Lecturer at the California Institute of Integral Studies, Santa Cruz Permaculture, Vital Cycles Permaculture, and Gaia Education. She holds an MA in Economics for Transition with Distinction from Schumacher College, a BA in International Relations and Sociology with highest honors from the University of California, Davis, a graduate certificate in Authentic Leadership from Naropa University, and has completed Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects Intensive Program.
