Work That Reconnects Facilitator Training w/ Lydia Violet

Apr 4 @ 9:30 am - Apr 5 @ 5:00 pm PDT

Two-Day WTR Facilitator Training Workshop!

In this two-day immersion, seasoned facilitator Lydia Violet Harutoonian will lead an in-depth introduction to facilitating the “Work that Reconnects,” Joanna Macy’s experiential group work. Lydia will offer skills and resources for conducting community process metabolizing climate anxiety and empowering action.

This facilitator training supports emerging and experienced facilitators in deepening their theoretical understanding of Joanna Macy’s work and it’s context in contemporary social and ecological issues. Participants will leave with tools for facilitating the foundational exercises of the Work that Reconnects, as well as personal plans for further development, resourcing, and education. Together we will explore integrating an equity lens into our group facilitation.

Over the course of the weekend, Lydia will cover “The Spiral” of the Work that Reconnects: moving through Gratitude, Honoring our Pain, Seeing with Eyes, and Going Forth. This roadmap provides psychological resourcing in challenging times, and is central to the skills and teachings the Facilitator Training offers. Our time together will also cover the basics of Deep Ecology and Prajnaparamita, crucial lineages for Joanna Macy and the creation of the Work that Reconnects. Articles and readings will be provided beforehand.

As a musician and song-facilitator, Lydia integrates community singing in her facilitation of the Work that Reconnects — song is an excellent way to support participants in integrating their internal and relational experiences. In this workshop, Lydia will guide participants in tools for integrating music into the group processes of the Work that Reconnects.

Lydia Violet is always joyously committed to sharing this work with others, conjuring integrity and deep emotional resources for our time. Lydia serves as a dedicated keeper and steward of the lineage of deep ecology elder and wisdom keeper Joanna Macy. After ten years of sustained study and mentorship in Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects, as well as immersion in systems theory and anti-oppression education, Lydia is a vital BIPOC facilitator ensuring the viability of the continuation of Joanna Macy’s teachings.
