Working with the Work That Reconnects in Community and Community Groups

Facilitated by: Margo van Greta and Jacqueline Buckingham

Saturday, 4 September
8.30am PDT / 4.30pm BST

How can the Work That Reconnects help communities and community groups to become more cohesive and resilient?

Communities succeed or fail in part as a result of the systems they have in place.  Shared rituals and structures allow voices to be heard, feelings to be felt and expressed, in a healthy and held way.  These systems are vital to a healthy and healed community / community group.

Margo and Jacqueline share their experiences of bringing the Work that Reconnects into Community, including in the Findhorn Ecovillage, which has existed now for almost 60 years. It has a commitment to include both inner work as well as outer work, and the Work That Reconnects is one of its supportive practices.

Topic we will explore include:

  • Bringing important topics (eg the climate crisis) back into conscious awareness and active engagement within community or community groups.
  • Bringing WTR in larger events that also include other angles and methods, creating a rich and varied experience.
  • Using aspects of the WTR Spiral when the community is faced with challenging and potentially divisive proposals or changes.
  • Healing traumatic experiences, and discovering how the essence of the WTR spiral is integrated in the community and readily available in times of trauma and great need.
  • Creating community cohesion and a shared direction and vision.

Margo van Greta is a pioneer of holistic spirituality and a facilitator of transformation. She studied with Joanna Macy in the Findhorn Community in Scotland, and committed to bring more Active Hope programs into the world, and is a WTR facilitator. Passionate about creating a safe and supportive space for exploring our inner journey, Margo has been leading courses, retreats and workshops for 25 years. She has lived in the Findhorn Community since 1991. She deeply loves nature and her daily walks on the Findhorn beach. Read more about Margo here.

Jacqueline Buckingham is an animal communication teacher and mentor and a master facilitator.  Having studied with Anna Breytenbach, Joanna Macy and John Seed she has facilitated workshops founded in Deep Ecology principles, since 2006, including within the Findhorn community during the seven years she lived there. Jacqueline is committed to reconnecting people to their own inner resources and personal power; and to restoring balance and harmony between humans and the rest of the natural world.
