Youth Climate Cafe
Nov 20 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST$25 – $40
“It’s on the knife-edge of uncertainty where we come alive to our truest power.” – Joanna Macy
In a recent global survey of 10,000 young people, exploring their responses to the climate crisis, 59% reported that they were very or extremely worried about climate change, and more than 50% felt sad, anxious, angry, powerless, helpless, and guilty.
It’s vitally important that young people’s concerns are heard and that youth feel supported and can envision a way forward.
We invite youth ages 15 – 19 to participate in a Climate Cafe on November 20th, to find a safe space and help to navigate climate anxiety and other feelings associated with the challenges of these times.
The Climate Cafe will offer:
- connection with peers who share similar cares, dreams and concerns
- ways to turn anxiety, grief and anger into courage, creativity and ecological resilience
- a supportive and inclusive space to be heard & validated
- practices for navigating the uncertainties and possibilities of these times
The process you will experience helps to transcend the many boundaries and silos that often divide and isolate us, and brings people together in the collective work of healing and transformation.
This workshop follows a process pioneered by activist and wisdom keeper, Joanna Macy — the “Work That Reconnects” (WTR). Over the past four decades, this approach has helped thousands of people transform grief, fear, and powerlessness into resilience, healing, and action in service of life.
