SUMMARY:Netherlands: Information call October 12th for the Ancestral Dreaming retreat October 30th – November 2nd 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is a free 1 hour information call on October 12th for the upcoming retreat. We hope to see you there\, Maru & Manon \nNote: you can also ask information about the 6 month In Person Facilitator Development Program we offer in The Netherlands. It is the 4th year we offer this\, we started in 2023 with the blessings of both Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone\, and we might have a place for this years edition. Starts November 13th 2026 and ends April 18th 2027\, includes 3 residential weekends and in between practice groups. Read more here: https://elemental-journey.com/faciltator-development-program/ \nSign up by email Manon Danker: inleven@greenmail.net \nInformation about the retreat: \nAncestral Dreaming                        \nFull Spiral 4 day retreat the Work that Reconnects October 30th – November 2nd 2026 \nFacilitation Manon Danker with Maru Moonlion \n“Know the intelligence of your ancestors as they track the movements of stars\, learn the ways of the plants and animals\, hold councils to choose the wisest action. Receive that intelligence as their gift. Can you sense the love that burns in your ancestors\, their devotion to their families\, their land? Receive that love as their gift to you.” Joanna Macy \nImage Web of Life\, courtesy of Mary Reynolds \nBeloved Joanna Macy is now our ancestor. In her quote she reminds us of the gifts of our ancestors and the gifts we bring forth while we live our lives. In this 4-day retreat we connect with our mysterious journey on Mother Earth. Our bodies are fully made of the Earth and all life forms are our kin. Imagine how we  hold the threads of life in our hand as fellow weavers in the Web of Life. \nWe journey through the full spiral of the Work that Reconnects. Do practices that strengthen our capacity to be present\, listen and hear what wants to unfold. We embrace the gift of change and transformation and open several rituals to guide us. While we open to our insights and gifts we create an ancestral altar. \nThe Work that Reconnects offers us a place of support in times of great change and (unprecedented) challenges. Humanity’s full commitment to a livable future needs our deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all life. We share practices that help us remember\, feel and celebrate our wonderful belonging to the Web of Life. It’s life force is present\, also in these times when life is hanging in the balance. \nFacilitation: Manon Danker is an experienced facilitator and studied with Joanna Macy. She has given many workshops over the last decade and supports others to become facilitators. Maru Moonlion has so many gifts to offer. They completed the TWTR facilitator development program in The Netherlands in 2024. Maru brings deep knowledge on engaged Buddhism and Earth honoring to this work. You can read more about them on my website. \nLocation\, time Uelenspieghel\, Drenthe. Starts 4pm Friday and ends 2.30 pm on Monday. Open to non-Dutch speakers\, most likely in English \nExchange sliding scale:  € 605 making a living\, € 735 abundance\, € 475 solidarity. Included are three nights stay and all home made vegan meals. \nInquiries Manon Danker: inleven@greenmail.net https://elemental-journey.com/ \nPart of the testimonial by Kate Ensor\, participant Ancestral Dreaming November 2025 (full testimonial on website) \n\nMy recent experience on the Work That Reconnects: Ancestral Dreaming workshop\, left me with a profound sense of gratitude. Manon holds this work with such clarity\, compassion\, and integrity that her alignment with Joanna Macy’s lineage is unmistakable. The space she created was nurturing\, courageous\, and held with such spaciousness that each of us could explore our own threads of belonging and responsibility. I felt enriched by the presence of wise and inspiring women\, by the land that embraced us\, and by Manon’s steady invitation to listen more deeply to ourselves\, to one another\, and to the wider web of life.\nThe insights I carried from the spiral continue to shape how I move through the world. I find myself returning to Joanna Macy’s reminder that each of us has a role in the Great Turning. Manon’s facilitation reminded me how essential it is that my work remains respectful\, reciprocal\, and aligned with my aspiration to be of service in whatever ways I can. Her teaching invites a deepened inquiry into legacy\, ancestry\, and the simple\, courageous acts through which we participate in shaping a more life-sustaining world. I am left wondering and gently inviting others to wonder how honoring your own ancestors and the legacy you are crafting might influence the way you show up in work\, in community\, and in life.

SUMMARY:A Queer Practice of Active Hope
DESCRIPTION:What might the Work That Reconnects offer queer communities navigating a world in crisis? \nI’m hosting an LGBTQ+-centered practice of the Work That Reconnects and inviting fellow WTR practitioners and community members to join me for a small\, experiential session in my home in Berlin. \nWe’ll move through the Spiral together\, centering the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people as we explore gratitude\, grief\, connection\, and imagination. I’m particularly interested in grief as an expression of our connection to what we love\, and in what queer experience might teach us about living with uncertainty\, seeing beyond what we have inherited\, and imagining what else might be possible. \nThis is a practice session as I continue developing the offering\, so participation is free. I’d especially welcome people familiar with the Work who are curious to experience it\, reflect with me\, and help me learn from the practice.

SUMMARY:Dealing with Our Shit - Can WTR help close the poop loop? A Work That Reconnects Network Webinar with Dr. Sarah Nahar
DESCRIPTION:In order for complex life forms to survive on planet Earth\, people – especially those of us responsible for contributing to climate changes and benefiting from global inequality – must make significant transformations to how we live at a basic level. \nSaturday\, October 10\n5 – 7pm UTC\n**Check your time zone here.** \nRegister Here\nHuman survival depends on access to water and food. We have rightfully given considerable attention to these essential human needs. But we have given far less consideration to the equally essential human need to release excess water and food from our system through urination and defecation. \nThis is not just an issue of technological innovation however\, it is one of worldview\, practices\, and values. Dr. Sarah Nahar researched how we might deal with our crap literally and metaphorically\, doing part of this doctoral research in the same program as Joanna Macy\, in the department of Religion at Syracuse University. One of her dissertation chapters\, entitled “Shit as System\,” is in dialogue with Joanna’s dissertation about the dharma of natural systems. \nCome find out what all of this crap might have to do with the Work That Reconnects. We will brainstorm how to integrate into your facilitation examples or phrases that can make this subject less taboo\, we’ll center how we might “do unto those downstream as we’d have those upstream do to us!”\, and dive into how the context of Syracuse\, Onondaga Lake and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy shaped the WTR and our dissertations. \nThis talk will promote a shift in consciousness–or at least generate some laughs–as we consider the serious importance of the potential of our body’s daily gift to the planet in the Great Turning. \nEvent logistics\nThis event will be recorded. The recording will be available three days after the live event and will be sent by email to all those who are registered. \nTranslated subtitles will be available for this event. \nIf you are in China and having difficulty registering for this event\, please contact Helen Sui 海静. \nA portion of the donations for this event will go to the facilitators of the event to honor their work and contribute to their livelihood. Donations also cover the tools\, resources and staff hours each event requires. Whatever is donated above and beyond these expenses will go to the general operating fund of the Work That Reconnects Network so it can continue to provide support\, networking and programing for our global WTR community. \nThe requested donation for this webinar is between $25-$35USD. However\, no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please donate generously within your means and feel free and welcomed to join us even without a donation. \n  \nGuest Presenter\nDr. Sarah Nahar (she) was trained in the Work That Reconnects via the 2nd People of Color Cohort over the course of the year 2014. She is also a nonviolent action trainer and interspiritual theologian. An emerging expert of Excreta Infrastructure Technologies\, her doctoral work centers on ecological regeneration\, community cultivation\, and discard studies. She teaches in the Program in the Environment at the University of Michigan. She was a 2019 Rotary Peace Fellow and worked at the Martin Luther King\, Jr. Center in Atlanta\, Georgia. She has been the Executive Director of Community Peacemaker Teams. She attended Spelman College\, and has an MDiv from Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary in her hometown\, where she also initiated climate justice efforts. \n

DESCRIPTION:October 10-11\, 2026 : 10am-5pm : The Berkeley Alembic : Berkeley\, California \nThe Rainforest Information Centre and the School for The Great Turning present:\nDEEP ECOLOGY Two-Day Workshop\nwith John Seed (remotely from Australia)\, Lydia Violet\, and Erika Aligno \nand guest facilitators Aryeh Shell\, Constance Washburn\, and Shams Kairys \nhttps://schoolforthegreatturning.com/deep-ecology-weekend-retreat-berkeley \n\n“It is not enough to have ecological ideas\, we have to have an ecological identity\, an ecological self.”\n— Arne Naess\, Emeritus Professor of Philosophy \nMany people intellectually realize that we are inseparable from Nature and that the sense of separation that we feel is socially conditioned and illusory. \n\nHow can we Nourish our Ecological Identity?\nIn answer to such questions\, Joanna Macy and John Seed developed a series of experiential deep ecology teachings\, practices\, and rituals known as the “Work That Reconnects/Deep Ecology Work\,” including the Council of All Beings. In 1986\, with Arne Naess and Pat Fleming\, they wrote a book called Thinking Like A Mountain – Towards a Council of All Beings (which has been translated into 12 languages). Along with others\, they have been facilitating these workshops around the world since. \nEnter the Remarkable John Seed:\nJohn will zoom in for portions of both Saturday and Sunday. \nNow in his 80s\, we’re honored that he’s anchoring this workshop all the way from his home in Australia\, via the magic of zoom. \nJohn Seed in his own words:\nI am no longer flying to workshops. \n“In the flesh” facilitation will be by trusted colleagues with whom I have cofacilitated for years\, I zoom in. Reviews from previous workshops in this format indicate that absolutely nothing is lost except the carbon footprint 😊. \nI have worked for worldwide rainforests since 1979. Although many of our efforts succeeded\, for every forest saved\, 100 have disappeared. Clearly\, you can’t save the planet one forest at a time. It’s one green Earth or a bowl of dust. Without a profound change of consciousness\, we can kiss the forests goodbye\, the ones we’ve “saved” alongside the rest. \nDeep ecology is key to the change we need. To deep ecology\, underlying all the symptoms of the environmental crisis lies a psychological or spiritual root – \nthe illusion of separation from the rest of the natural world\, which stems from anthropocentrism or human-centeredness. \nI have worked for worldwide rainforests since 1979. To deep ecology\, underlying all the symptoms of the environmental crisis lies a psychological or spiritual root – the illusion of separation from the rest of the natural world\, which stems from anthropocentrism or human-centeredness. \nWhile we maintain a self-image created in the matrix of anthropocentric culture\, a shrunken and illusory sense of self that doesn’t include the air and water and soil\, we will experience nature as “outside” our self and fail to recognize that nature “out there” and nature “in here” are one and the same. \n\nOver Two Days Together…\nWe’ll retrace the evolutionary journey written into every one of our cells\, a four-billion-year unbroken chain from the first fish that walked onto land\, through the reptiles whose scales became fur\, into the mammals we are now. \nAt the heart of the workshop is the Council of All Beings itself. Each of us will find an ally in the natural world\, make a mask to represent them\, and let that animal\, plant\, or landscape speak through us. The view of the world that emerges is often startlingly different from our own\, and it tends to bring with it clear\, creative direction for how we act when we go home. \nWe’ll also sit with an essential practice: honoring our pain for the world. \nGrieving the species lost\, the landscapes that are gone. Thich Nhat Hanh once said that healing the Earth starts with hearing\, inside ourselves\, the sounds of the Earth crying. This workshop makes room for exactly that\, not as despair\, but as the doorway back into effective\, rooted action. \nBy the end\, the goal isn’t a new idea about nature. It’s an experience of your own inter-being with it. \nAnd because this is a non-residential workshop\, you’ll return home each evening\, carrying the day’s practices with you and arriving back the next morning ready to go deeper. \n\nIn-Person Facilitator\nErika Aligno is a veteran of community legal centres\, where she advocated for social justice\, supporting people navigating systems not built for them. Over time\, she has expanded her energy toward environmental justice. Her work in the environment sector and her studies in Environmental Management at UNSW led her to Deep Ecology\, and in 2023 she began working closely with John Seed\, the ‘Australian Father’ of Deep Ecology. Erika now serves as a Director of the Institute for Deep Ecology and has co-led more than a dozen Deep Ecology workshops in Sydney\, Hobart\, Perth\, and the USA. She is honored to steward this gathering alongside John Seed\, whose work has profoundly shaped her own path. \nLydia Violet \nA longtime student and colleague of Joanna Macy\, Lydia spent more than seventeen years studying and teaching the Work That Reconnects\, bringing it to thousands of participants through retreats\, trainings\, universities\, climate organizations\, and community gatherings around the world. As founder of School for The Great Turning\, she is known for creating spaces where ecological grief\, beauty\, music\, and deep inquiry become sources of resilience\, belonging\, and meaningful action. \nAll info and Registration at https://schoolforthegreatturning.com/deep-ecology-weekend-retreat-berkeley

SUMMARY:Deep Ecology Evening Workshop with John Seed and Erika Aligno
DESCRIPTION:Deep Ecology invites us to move into ecological identity. not as separate but as participants within the living earth together. \nThis is a rare opportunity to work with lifetime environmental activist and elder John Seed\, as he’ll be zooming in remotely from Australia. John Seed is the father of the Australian Deep Ecology movement\, the founder of the Rainforest Information Centre\, and has dedicated his life to the protection of rainforests and their biodiversity since 1979. He no longer travels to facilitate workshops but will be zooming in to co-facilitate remotely with the in-person facilitation team. \n\nThis powerful evening will be facilitated in person by Erika Aligno and supported by Rogue Valley local facilitators and organizers Kat Steele\, Julie Norman and WTR Network Co-Director\, Jo delAmor. \n \n\n\n\n  \nJoin us for an experiential evening of connection. A place to remember the interconnectedness of all life and to discover our ecological identity. Through honouring our gratitudes and our pain for the world together we go forth with a renewed sense of empowerment to face the challenges of the world today. It’s an invitation to gather\, inquire\, reconnect and perhaps encounter some of the questions that have been waiting for you. \n  \nFor more than forty years John worked with Joanna Macy exploring important questions and co creating Deep Ecology practices. \n\nWhat if lasting environmental action doesn’t begin with more information?\nWhat if it begins with remembering that the rivers\, forests\, animals and mountains are not outside of us\, but part of who we are?\n\n  \nDeep Ecology gives us. \nMore presence. \nMore connection. \nA renewed sense of purpose. \nA different way of meeting the world around us. \n  \n\nThis event is a benefit for rainforest conservation. All proceeds go to the protection of the incomparable Los Cedros Biological Reserve in western Ecuador https://chuffed.org/project/cloud-forest-los-cedros . For US$ tax deductible donations to Los Cedros https://rainforestinfo.org.au/aaa/Earthways.htm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Erika Aligno\n\n\n\n\nI am a veteran of community legal centres\, where I advocated as a lawyer for social justice\, supporting people navigating systems not built for them. Over time\, I have expanded my energy toward environmental justice. My work with the NSW Department of Climate Change\, Energy\, the Environment\, and Water and my studies in Environmental Management at the University of NSW led me to Deep Ecology\, and in 2023 I began working closely with John Seed\, the ‘Australian Father’ of Deep Ecology. \nI now serve as a Director of the Institute for Deep Ecology\, contributing to the organisation’s mission to advance ecological consciousness\, community practice\, and transformative education. As a facilitator\, I have led more than 20+ Deep Ecology workshops in Sydney\, Hobart\, Perth\, Zaragoza (Spain)\, and the USA\, supporting participants to reconnect with Earth\, each other\, and our ecological identity. SUMMARY:The Grief Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:The Grief Sanctuary is a three-hour communal ritual for making space for the grief we carry.  \nTogether\, we practice Honoring Our Pain for the World: turning toward grief rather than away from it\, and recognizing our sorrow\, anger\, fear\, and longing as expressions of our connection to what we love. \nParticipants are invited to move between grieving and witnessing within a held communal space. Through ritual\, silence\, movement\, sound\, and collective presence\, we allow grief to be felt and expressed without needing to explain\, fix\, or resolve it. \nThe ritual begins by grounding ourselves in gratitude and connection before entering the sanctuary together. As we move through grief and return to the community\, we explore what can become available when our pain is witnessed rather than carried alone: a renewed sense of belonging\, connection\, and capacity to meet the world as it is. \nWe close by gathering what we want to carry forward from the experience and returning to our lives and communities. \nNo previous experience with communal grief ritual or the Work That Reconnects is necessary.

SUMMARY:Whale Songs for the Ancestors in Deep Time: a monthly online gathering in the WTR
DESCRIPTION:Before the alphabet\, song was Earth’s language. Whales have been singing longer than we have had words. \nWe have been singing for longer than we have had words.  \nWhale songs travel thousands of miles through ocean waters\, carrying information we are only beginning to understand — and perhaps something older than information: remembrance. Whales are our mammalian ancestors who crawled out of the ocean\, but remembered\, and returned to the ocean. In a time of fire\, urgency\, and circuits — what does it mean to be led back into the water?  \nA word about your facilitator\, 張家敏 Jessica Cheung (Murray): among the Tanka people of the South China Sea — the saltwater people\, the boat-dwelling fisherfolk who knew the ocean as home and source — song moved between humans and the more-than-human world as call and response. A phrase offered into the water. Something sung back. Not an echo\, but an answer. This practice lives in the ancestral body of your facilitator from the Chinese diaspora — and it co-emerged with whales communicating across vast oceanic distances.  \nWhat if the world is in fact\, held in song?  \nIn this monthly drop-in gathering\, we slow down to feel the current still pulsing within us. \nZoom registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/l0BKm_kZTWa12MxGK9EyLw \nDrawing on the practices of the Work That Reconnects\, we move together through a simple\, embodied arc: \n\nArriving together into the ecological self\nSomatic grounding that orients to water\, and invites fluidity and buoyancy into our bodies\nA deeper check-in from our fuller\, landed selves\nA shared practice of whale song — call and response across deep time and deep ecology\nA closing sharing circle\n\nNo preparation or prior experience with WTR is needed. Come as you are. This is a space to be held\, to be unwieldy and ungovernable\, to grieve\, to remember\, and to feel — even briefly — the unbroken thread of life that runs through us. \nHosted monthly online. SUMMARY:Rhythms of Care: A Journey through the Spiral that Reconnects
DESCRIPTION:Rhythms of Care is an invitation to pause\, slow down & listen\, a reminder to witness our connection with ourselves\, each other & the more-than human. Here is a space where the body & her movement lead\, a tapestry of minor gestures & micro poems. It is a space to honour life and her sacred cycles. It is an act of radical care & a space for collective well-being. Rhythms of Care is an immersive global experience\, an opportunity to embody the inter-connectedness amongst all of us and weave strands of embodied poetry. Together\, we reclaim our sensory registers as pathways to know and reconnect. It is a space to simply be\, to witness\, listen & discover images\, movements\, sounds and words of your body\, psyche and your ecosystem in a collective. It’s a space filled with surprises and with the sheer magic of life. \nWhat we will do: During each session of Rhythms is a grounded check-in with breathwork\, a process anchored in intuitive movement followed by expressions of micro poetry & a reflective closing circle. \nInfluences: Rhythms of Care lies at the intersection of arts\, embodiment\, and Work that Reconnects practices. It offers a possibility to join the repair of the Web of Life; to apply social arts and embodiment as transformative practices; to strengthen our capacity of staying-with; to regain a sense of hope and courage and opening a space of grounded political imagination. The frame and the premises of this workshop are inspired by Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects and by Mutima Imani’s Expanded Spiral of the Work That Reconnects which insists on a decolonial perspective. The tools and the language of this workshop are inspired by Theatre of the Oppressed and Aesthetic of the Oppressed by Augusto Boal and Social Presencing Theater by Arawana Hayashi. The approach is sustained by the method of Focusing\, Comprehensive Resource Model\, the moon cycle and Womb Medicine. \nPhases of the Spiral and dates: \nSegment 1: Coming from Gratitude: Remembering What Sustains Us \n19th March\, 2nd 16th & 30th April \nSegment 2: Honouring Our Pain for the World: Opening the Heart of Compassion \n14th & 28th May\, 11th & 25th June \nSegment 3: Seeing with New Eyes: Shifting into Inter-being \n9th & 23rd July\, 6th & 20th August \nSegment 4: Going Forth: Cultivating the Courage to Act \n3rd & 17th September\, 1st & 15th October \nFees: 40 euros/segment or 150 euro for all 16 segments. Don’t let financial constraint be a reason for your non participation. Please write to us at reach.kalaadhari@gmail.com and we can discover a creative solution for this together!

SUMMARY:Parenting in Tumultuous Times: 8 week program
DESCRIPTION:Parenting in Tumultuous Times – an online Work That Reconnects program for parents \n\nMeeting the needs of our children within the demands and chaos of pervasive economic crises\, environmental devastation\, the ongoing atrocities of social injustice and the erosion of democracy and sanity worldwide can leave us feeling exhausted\, defeated and alone. \nBeing a parent in these times is probably asking way more of you than you could have ever imagined. In addition to all of the practical and physical challenges of being parents\, we’re also carrying the emotional weight of fear\, anxiety\, confusion and sadness around the experiences our children are having (and not having) as a result of the state of the world. \nThis program is specifically designed for parents in the midst of all of this. \nSeptember 29-November 17\, 2026\n*Registration closes on September 22 \n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n  \n\n  \nIn this program we come together over the course of several weeks to dive into the joys and challenges of parenting in these tumultuous times and emerge with strategies and inspiration for meeting this unprecedented moment with empowerment and joy. \nThis deeply interactive program provides a safe and powerful space of connection with other parents from around the world along with Jo delAmor’s practical\, loving support and guidance. During our time together we’ll conjure the clarity\, courage and solidarity necessary to tune into what our kids really need and figure out how to provide that to them despite the challenges that our current times present. \nOur sessions will be facilitated in the style of the Work That Reconnects using content and original practices from Jo’s book Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis: a Compassionate Guidebook for New Paradigm Parenting. Sessions will include personal reflection\, deep sharing and interactive group work designed to strengthen and transform our relationships to ourselves\, our children and the world in which we are raising them. \nBetween sessions we will be invited to read relevant sections of the book\, try out practices with our families and engage with the other parents in the program through our private online platform. \nProgram details:\nSeptember 29-November 17\, 2026\n*Registration closes on September 22 \nThis program consists of eight live Zoom sessions. Each session will last two hours. Please be prepared to be present for the entire session without distractions. Sessions will not be recorded and the group will be limited to no more than 12 participants in order to create a more intimate container for connection.* \nSessions will be once a week on the following Tuesdays from 8am-10am PDT/PST (Eastern US) Find your local time here. \n\nSeptember 29\nOctober 6\nOctober 13\nOctober 20\nOctober 27**\nNovember 3*\nNovember 10*\nNovember 17*\n\n** Please note that Europe comes out of daylight savings on October 25 and the US comes out of daylight savings time on November 1. The start time will always be at 8am Pacific US so\, if you are in Europe the October 27 session will shift by an hour and then the rest of the sessions will go back to the original time. And\, if you are in a country that does not practice daylight savings time\, the start time for the last three sessions may shift by an hour for you. Please double check and mark your calendars accordingly. ** \n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n* In order to cultivate an effective container for the group experience\, Jo reserves the right to decline or postpone participation for any applicant if she feels they may not be ready or appropriate for this interactive group experience at this time. \n\nYour Contribution\nIf you’re feeling called to participate in this program I want you to be with us. Although I’ve offered this program on a free choice donation basis in the past\, I am unfortunately not able to do that at this time. \nHowever\, I’m still confident that we can keep this program accessible for parents who aren’t able to contribute financially by pitching in together. \nIf enough participants are able to contribute the full amount for the program\, I will hold two spaces open for full scholarship and four spaces for partial scholarship. You’ll have an opportunity to let me know how much you’re able to contribute when you fill out your registration form. \nPayment plans are also completely welcome. Just let me know what will work best for you. \nThank you in advance for helping to sustain this work and making it possible for others to participate at the level they are able while allowing me to continue to offer these programs in this way. \nFull amount: $800 USD \nPlease note: You won’t be charged immediately upon registration. Instead\, you’ll receive instructions on how to make your contribution at the end of the registration process. \n\n\n  \nImportant things to know about this program:\n\nChoosing to participate in this program is a commitment to an interactive group experience. Please arrive to each session willing and able to be present and participate for the entire session without distractions.\n\n  \n\nFor each session you’ll need to be set up in space that has a solid internet connection where you feel safe and free to express yourself and emote openly about your experience as a parent. It’s important that this space is not within earshot of your kids.\n\n  \n\nBefore each session you’ll be given a section from the book to read that we’ll work with and reflect on together. The readings shouldn’t take more than 30-60 minutes each. The prep reading before the first session is a bit longer so I encourage you to register early to give yourself plenty of time with it.\n\n  \n\nBetween sessions you’ll be given practices to work with at home. These practices can be incorporated into your family life and will include your children\, partners and co-parents.\n\n  \n\nYou have probably heard the Nigerian Igbo proverb…“It takes a village to raise a child.” This is so true and\, in the context of our work\, it means that this work is best done with other parents that you live with\, co-parent with or otherwise interact with on a regular basis. Please invite those people in your life to register for the program along with you so you can share this experience with them. You’re also encouraged to share the learnings and insights you gather from this program with your partners\, co-parents and friends who are parents\, whether they’re in the program or not. This is a great opportunity to deepen the connections and parenting practices within your version of the parenting village.\n\n  \n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\nWe will move through the spiral process of the Work That Reconnects in these sessions:\nSession 1: Greeting the Precious and Precarious Moment \nSession 2: Grounding in Gratitude \nSession 3: Embracing Emotion and Developing Emotional Fluency \nSession 4: Cultivating Emotional Safety for our Kids \nSession 5: Nurturing Thriving Life Paradigm Qualities \nSession 6: Partnering with our Kids \nSession 7: Parenting in Deep Time and Healing Intergenerational Trauma \nSession 8: Parenting for the Great Turning \n  \nFor more info and questions email Jo at jodelamor@gmail.com \n  \nAbout Jo delAmor\n\n\n\nJo delAmor is a mom and a step-mom to two young adults (24 and 25 years old) and has cared for and worked with hundreds of other people’s children of all ages in a wide variety of situations from longterm co-parenting community to public schools\, from wilderness camps and preschools to in-home nannying over the last 30+ years. \nJo has been facilitating the Work That Reconnects since 2013 with a focus on dismantling oppression\, transforming our cultural paradigm and supporting parents through these unprecedented and challenging times. \nIn her dedication to personal and cultural transformation as a catalyst for planetary healing\, she has paid close attention to what this new generation needs at this pivotal time on planet Earth; charting what works\, what doesn’t and what is being called forth from us as parents. She has woven the insights and practical tools she’s gathered through all of this experience into her practice of New Paradigm Parenting and her forthcoming book “Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis:A Compassionate Guidebook for New Paradigm Parenting \n\n\n  \n\n\nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Care Currents: In-Person WTR Spiral in Cairo
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to attend Care Currents!\nA Parent centered 1 day workshop following the expanded spiral of the Work that Reconnects.\nYou don’t have to bring your children\, in fact\, you don’t have to be a parent! You can bring children from your community\, and you can come as the child of parents. You can be a single parent\, you can be someone who was raised by a single parent\, too.  \n\nThe stages of the expanded spiral as developed by Mutima Imani (upon Joanna Macy’s request) are: \n\nGratitude\,\nSelf Awareness\,\nSocial Location and Systems of Oppression\,\nHonoring our Pain for the World\,\nSeeing with New/Ancient Eyes\,\nLiberation\,\nGoing Forth\n\nWhy parent-centered?  \n\n\nParenting is an act of care\, I want to focus on the care we have received\, the care that we wished we received and the care we offer and wish we could offer. We’ll be taking care through the spiral of the Work that Reconnects. I particularly want to explore the grief we might hold around care. \n\n\nThere are a lot of spaces held that imply/require that children aren’t present. This limits accessibility for parents\, especially for primary single parents like myself. And so\, children are welcomed. \n\n\n\nWhat does “taking care through the spiral” mean?  \nThis is something that I like doing. I have taken capitalism through the spiral\, facism through the spiral\, I have taken collapse through the spiral and now\, we’re going to be taking care through the (expanded) spiral of the Work that Reconnects. We’ll be looking at and reflecting on care through the different stages of the spiral. \n\nAbout me and How I came to the Work that Reconnects:  \nI’m a single parent of two children and I have been studying and facilitating the Work that Reconnects since 2023. I am part of the facilitator team at Spiral Journey where a facilitator development program is offered. \nI’m also part of the Ecoversities Alliance\, the partner council bringing the Next Economies Forum to Cairo in 2027 and a holder of an MA in Economics in International Development. I found the Work that Reconnects through Ecoversities\, where I was part of the hosting team of the global gathering held in Egypt in 2022. \nI’m currently volunteering in the Work that Reconnects Network and studying to become a grief facilitator and I’m part of the Traditional Studies Program offered by Dar Al Rayyan (graduating in 2027) and I’m doing a graduate diploma in Ecosocial Design at Gaia U. \nI’m a facilitator of the expanded spiral of the Work that Reconnects\, a writer and a dreamer. I’m currently working on Imagination for Liberation as a body of work to bring into being the worlds we want to be part of.

SUMMARY:A Foundation of Wholeness: Work That Reconnects Spiral Series
DESCRIPTION:This series meets for 5 sessions on Fridays\, September 25 – October 23 at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST\ncheck what time this is for you \nHow do we navigate the emotional upheaval that so often accompanies the grief\, anger\, and despair we feel in response to what’s happening in the world? Unfortunately\, most of us were not offered the skills to navigate our emotions. We were taught to repress our ‘negative’ emotions and be happy. But ‘happy’ doesn’t always reflect what we feel inside. Suppressing our emotions can have negative impacts on our well-being\, our health\, our relationships\, and even our livelihood. What might happen if we were to step back and take a wider view of what’s happening around us and how our lives are unfolding? \nThe Work That Reconnects\, developed by Joanna Macy\, is a set of transformative practices that invite us to take a fresh look at what we see happening in the world around us. It beckons us to recognize the wider web of life\, to rise from a foundation of gratitude\, embracing the entirety of our truth\, so we can fully thrive. As we move through the phases of the Spiral of the Work–Gratitude\, Honoring Our Pain for the World\, Seeing with New Eyes\, and Going Forth–we remember the value of our emotional landscape. By identifying our unique contribution to the world and connecting with our inner resources\, we build our resilience which supports us in navigating these chaotic times of great possibility. \nIf you’ve experienced Frieda’s facilitation before\, you may know that her offerings are emergent\, experiential and entirely dependent upon who shows up. Together facilitator and participants create a field of intimacy and depth that carries all on the journey of the spiral\, together and beyond. \nThis series supports emerging facilitators considering entering a facilitator development program. \nIn an effort to create a space of depth and intimacy\, this offering will be limited to 12 participants. Reserve your space today. \nRegister Here\nThis series is offered in the spirit of generosity with space reserved for those who may not have access to financial resources. In order to make these offerings viable and continue to offer this important work to those with less access to finances\, I ask a sliding scale payment between $120-$180. Please note where you align and contribute accordingly preferred via Wise\, Zelle or Venmo at Frieda-Nixdorf or PayPal at paypal.me/FriedaNixdorf. (please use “friends and family”) or Wise. If this payment presents a hardship to you and you feel strongly called to join this offering\, please reach out so we can chat about how to make it work. \n \nFrieda is committed to drawing community into transformational experiences to remember our belonging\, our interdependence\, and our kinship with the more-than-human world. Amongst many other things\, Frieda has studied art\, religion\, psychology\, yoga and the intricacies of beautiful and broken world around her. She has taught Eastern and Western Psychology at several community colleges\, and Soul Purpose at the graduate level\, and has been incorporating WTR practices into everything she does since she first met Joanna Macy in graduate school in 2002. Frieda is a mentor and rites of passage guide\, she facilitates WTR and Soul Embodiment workshops and serves as a Co-Director on the WTR Network team. \nFrieda currently resides on the unceded ancestral homelands of the Nisenan People\, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in Northern California. Frieda lives with her small family of humans\, two dogs\, three chickens and more plant and animal beings than she can count.

SUMMARY:Ecología profunda y el Trabajo Que Reconecta

SUMMARY:Mindful Earth Liberation: An Expanded Spiral Guide for the Work That Reconnects
DESCRIPTION:This webinar introduces the new workbook\, Mindful Earth Liberation: An Expanded Spiral Guide for the Work That Reconnects. Authors Mutima and Angela will guide participants through the evolution of the WTR spiral\, moving from a purely ecological and psychological framework to one that also includes social justice as a core element. \nWednesday\, September 23\n19:00 – 21:00 UTC\n**Check your time zone here.** \nRegister Here\n  \nThe Expanded Spiral: New Core Elements \nThe authors will explain the “why” behind adding three critical dimensions to the traditional spiral. These additions ensure that the work of healing the planet is inseparable from the work of healing human systems. \nSelf-Awareness: Cultivating a deeper internal clarity and emotional resilience as the foundation for external action with an understanding that social location is central to self-awareness. \nSocial-Awareness & Systems of Oppression: Understanding how historical and systemic power structures (like racism\, colonialism\, and classism) shape our relationship with the Earth and each other. \nLiberation: Moving beyond “sustainability” toward the active dismantling of oppressive structures to create true freedom for all beings. \nThroughout the session and the workbook\, three core pillars are woven together—much like the indigenous “Three Sisters” planting method where each plant supports the others: \n\nMindfulness: Presence and intentionality in every step.\nSustainability: Living in a way that honors the Earth’s limits.\nSocial Justice: Ensuring equity and dignity are at the heart of the “Great Turning.”\n\nThis expanded WTR framework is particularly relevant for activists\, facilitators\, and educators who want to bridge the gap between environmentalism and social justice. \n  \nEvent logistics\nThis event will be recorded. \n  \nGuest Presenters\nAngela Miller-Porter is a mindfulness-based sustainability educator and WTR facilitator. For twenty years\, she has taught sustainability at the community\, k-12\, and university levels. Angela is a certified meditation teacher\, weaving mindfulness into all she does. Her passion is what she calls the “three sisters revolution” of mindfulness\, sustainability\, and social justice. In her doctoral research on “Mindfulness in Sustainability Education\,” she I utilized the Work That Reconnects (WTR) framework to design and teach a university course\, Mindfulness & Sustainability. Angela worked with Mutima Imani (the creator of the expanded WTR spiral) to write a guidebook\, Mindful Earth Liberation: An Expanded Spiral for the Work That Reconnects\, to ensure that the revolution is inclusive with liberation for all. Angela’s business is Awakening Earth Health Coaching. \nQueen Rev. Mutima Imani (she/her) has a Masters Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Phenomenology. She is an internationally recognized facilitator\, speaker\, and author specializing in transformative practices that awaken personal and collective potential for a thriving global society. She is the convener of Awaken to Love and a dedicated steward of the Work That Reconnects (WTR). \nMutima brings a decolonized\, inclusive lens to themes of justice\, equity\, diversity\, and inclusion (JEDI) in social and environmental activism. Drawing on a wealth of experience as a spiritual leader and healer\, Mutima intertwines ancestral wisdom\, deep ecology\, and community-based practices to address the root causes of oppression\, disconnection\, and ecological collapse. \nMutima is the author of A Global Invitation to a Thriving Society: The Promise of the Great Turning\, a groundbreaking exploration of how Joanna Macy’s WTR spiral can evolve to address the polycrisis of our time. With a focus on healing intergenerational and racial trauma\, nurturing resilience\, and fostering liberation\, she empowers individuals and communities to navigate the transition toward a just\, regenerative future. \n  \nAbout the WTR Network Webinar Program\nThe Work That Reconnects Network offers a wide range of rich\, educational and supportive opportunities for our global community to inform\, inspire and keep us connected and resilient within a global community of seekers and activists. Offerings include Spiral events led by WTR facilitators\, and a wide variety of sessions with guest teachers from complementary fields. SUMMARY:Healing Season: Sacred Bodies\, Sacred Lands
DESCRIPTION:You’re warmly invited to join this 8-week deep dive into the practical wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine and deep ecology. This full journey around the Spiral of the Work that Reconnects is also a path of body-love\, Earth-connection\, greater health and pleasure in being alive\, and clearer\, strengthened purpose. \nWe learn about and actively care for: \n\nthe Five Elements (or five phases) and how they express in your body and your mind\,\nthe relationship between emotional and physical health\,\nand the connections between personal and collective well-being\,\n\nWe won’t just be learning “about” these things through words – we do practices that clear blockage\, support our health\, and liberate more energy and clarity in our response to the needs around us. \nHealing Season: Sacred Bodies\, Sacred Lands includes: \n\n7 live calls over 8 weeks\, for practicing qigong\, doing the Work that Reconnects\, and Q&A\nrecorded teachings (no time limit on access after the course concludes)\nunlimited attendance at online qigong classes and Work that Reconnects circles with Leilani during Healing Season and the following month\nbonus: free access to one self-acupressure course of your choice\n\nLive calls will take place in two cohorts: \n\nWednesdays\, 10am-11:30am Pacific Time (September 23 – November 11)\nSaturdays\, 11am-12:30pm Pacific Time (September 26 – November 14)\n\nRegistration is open now\, and closes on September 29. \nYou can register for one payment of U.S.$360\, or two payments of U.S.$180. \nClick here for all the details and to sign up. \nYou’ll be immersed in the wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine\, which teaches us that a major cause of disease is imbalances in how we relate to our emotions. With practices and tools to tend to our emotional lives\, our foundation for wellness is broad and strong. \nYou’ll learn \n\nto understand yourself through the Five Phases (five elements): their physical and emotional aspects\, how they relate to each other\, and how to balance each one in yourself\nqigong practices to clear stagnation\, build qi\, and harmonize the body\n\nYou’ll experience community practices from the Work that Reconnects. Originally developed by Joanna Macy\, this work help us meet these times with more aliveness\, resilience\, creativity\, and courage. This supports both \n\npersonal health\, by unblocking the stagnation caused by emotional stress and “stuffing our emotions down”\nand social/ecological health\, by unblocking our authentic emotional responses to what’s happening in the world. This allows those natural responses to guide us forth into service and changemaking\n\nWe’ll experience physical health as inseparable from emotional health\, and personal well-being as inseparable from community/ecosystem well-being. \nThis is for you if… \nyou feel like you’re out of balance\, and it’s time to experience greater health\, joy\, steadiness and purpose \nyour pain for the world can get overwhelming \nyou know your emotions are a key to your well-being\, and you want to connect with ancient wisdom about these energetics \nyou’d love to understand traditional Chinese Medicine more deeply and learn the healing practice of qigong \nyou’d like to understand your own unique balance\, and what contribution to the world fits your nature \nyou’re ready to connect more deeply with the living Earth\, and with other people ready for that too \nYou have a brilliant\, emergent\, healing intelligence inside you. \nWhat past participants have said: \n“Healing Season has been foundational. It was a beautiful experience to notice the elements within and surrounding me\, and how to tune into them in my life. I am experiencing my emotions with more kindness\, and a balancing approach to tend to them as they happen. My feelings of the world are still crushing (it is catastrophic out there)\, yet this work in myself reminds me I am here\, and the paths I cross are important\, and that is all that’s up to me. To best meet those intersections of myself and community\, I have to be willing to be tender with myself.” \n– Ariselli G. \n“Since Healing Season\, I feel less fragmented: physically\, mentally\, and emotionally. Here\, I found curiosity\, ways to greet my pain\, and inspiration to move forward with vision. I will continue to reap the benefits and enjoy the content for a long time to come. If you’re looking for connection to yourself\, others\, and the natural world – this course is for you. I highly recommend Healing Season.” \n– Erika W.\, Student\, Utah \n“Healing Season has been vitally nourishing. I have found purpose and power in allowing grief into my being\, and letting joy out of my being\, into the world around me. I have been in relationship with many different healing modalities and medical systems. Leilani and this course stand out as uniquely capable of weaving together so many threads\, organs\, ecosystems\, seasons\, thought processes\, elements of attention\, in a way that is digestible to each individual. Additionally\, it is a gift to be able to invite\, hold\, and care for community in just a few short weeks. While Leilani “presents information” about the Work that Reconnects\, she also is actively “doing the work that reconnects” in the manner that she creates and offers this community course.” \n– Gretchen G.\, Rites of Passage Guide\, Montana \n“I’m now having an easier time feeling my emotions in my body\, and I’m more inspired than ever to allow them to move through me (when in the past I’ve habitually stifled “negative” emotions). Particularly if you are someone who is a ‘people pleaser\,’ or has learned to suppress any type of emotion (whether as a means of survival or learned culture)\, this course is a must! Healing Season helps you to see and understand the connection between emotional and physical health in a way that is so critical to real healing. The course also provides real\, practical tools to start a journey towards a more fulfilling\, balanced\, healthy life.” \n– Anonymous \n“Healing Season has been a huge gift. It’s given me a lens to see myself\, my life\, my body that’s more than just accepting of it all\, but honoring\, welcoming and enjoying the full range of life\, of being an emotional\, physical\, and spiritual being. I have found myself more able to welcome my feelings because I am not afraid that they will stay forever. The interconnectedness of the elements makes me feel more appreciative of how each emotion is necessary to feed life and be in an ever-changing balance. Thank you\, Leilani\, for your leadership\, and wisdom. Thank you for creating this space that we all get to be in.” \n– Gwenn R.\, Physician\, Connecticut \n“A lot has shifted in my awareness around the presence of the elements within my body. I am often identifying my emotions\, making the connection as to which element is actually needing my attention. Also\, the qigong has been huge for me. Practicing qigong from start to finish or just for a particular element as needed really helps to move any stagnant energy. I am looking forward to going back through Healing Season library to deepen my understanding.” \n– Haylee A.\, Hospitality Small Business Owner\, Utah \nClick here for all the details and to sign up.

SUMMARY:the Year That Reconnects
DESCRIPTION:This program offers processes and tools to remind us of the deep connection we have as human beings with nature\, our fellow human beings\, and ourselves. Anyone facing the facts today regarding threatened ecosystems\, crumbling democracies\, and social inequality may be overcome by feelings of despondency\, guilt\, or despair. \nEvery season\, we gather for a day with like-minded individuals at a beautiful natural location. Here\, we find the peace and space to recharge\, acknowledge our concerns\, and develop new perspectives. Beforehand\, we work with the Spiral proces form Joanna Macy and ‘The Work That Reconnects’; a recognized methodology used worldwide by peace\, justice\, and environmental movements. \n\nThis workshop is based in the body of work known as the Work That Reconnects. You can learn more about the Work That Reconnects at www.workthatreconnects.org and in the book Coming Back to Life by Joanna Macy and Molly Brown brought to you here by May van Waes and Eva Maria Schneijderberg. \n\nThis program offers processes and tools to remind us of the deep connection we have as human beings with nature\, our fellow human beings\, and ourselves. Anyone facing the facts today regarding threatened ecosystems\, crumbling democracies\, and social inequality may be struck by feelings of despondency\, guilt\, or despair. Every season\, we gather for a day with like-minded individuals at a beautiful natural location. Here\, we find the peace and space to recharge\, acknowledge our concerns\, and develop new perspectives. To achieve this\, we work with tools from both ‘Nonviolent Communication’ and ‘The Work That Reconnects’; a recognized methodology used worldwide for the benefit of peace\, justice\, and environmental movements. Content Every season\, we collectively go through a guided ‘spiral’ in which we progress through various steps at an experiential level to achieve greater connection. This process\, developed by ecophilosopher\, systems expert\, and Bouddhist Joanna Macy\, consists of: \n\nGrounding in gratitude; \nHonoring the pain; \nLooking with new (or age-old) eyes; \nGoing forth. \n\nMethods used include guided meditations\, visualizations\, systemic exercises\, theoretical background\, creative methods\, and rituals. Additionally\, we practice using tools from Nonviolent Communication to engage in conversation with others based on dialogue rather than debate. This allows you to stand up for what is important to you without losing sight of the connection with the other person. Besides contributing to connection with others\, the process of Nonviolent Communication also contributes to connection with yourself and the development of a strong inner compass. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is for you if: \n\nYou notice that you avoid uncomfortable feelings regarding the state of the world and are looking for tools on how to relate to them. \nYou have a need to share and explore these feelings with others. \nYou want to connect with the living earth and the seasons and what connection with this natural cycle can bring you. \nYou want to try out processes to live more from a place of connection and incorporate them into your daily life. \nYou want to learn to shift perspectives and practice having difficult conversations. \n\nAfter this program\, you will have: \n\na group of people and concrete tools to fall back on when developments in the world overwhelm you. \ntools on how to live more from connection\, hope\, and trust. \npractices on how to engage in difficult conversations from a place of honesty and connection. \nways to find peace and trust in nature. opportunities and the willpower to commit to your unique contribution to ‘the great turning’\, that is to say: a life-sustaining society.\n\n ============== “The Work That Connects helps people discover and experience their innate connection with one another and the self-healing power of the web of life\, transforming despair and overwhelm into inspired\, collective action.” Joanna Macy ============== \nFor whom \nAnyone who feels the need to share\, in a safe setting\, how the challenges of these times affect you and what you can contribute to this. This program is suitable for everyone\, regardless of age\, education\, political preference\, or any other identity aspect. During the program\, we will not engage in substantive opinions. The emphasis will primarily be on experiencing\, practicing\, and sharing. Experience or prior knowledge of the methodologies is not required. It may be helpful to read the book *Active Hope* by Joanna Macy beforehand. There is room in the program to also bring in everyone’s personal expertise and/or background. SUMMARY:Roots of Resilience for Uncertain Times: a 5-part WTR series for East Asia\, Australia and Americas
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for East Asian Time Zones. Dates are Saturdays\, September 19 – October 17. Hanoi\, Vietnam: 7:00am – 9:15am; Beijing\, China: 8:00am – 10:15am; Sydney\, Australia: 10:00am – 12:15pm. \nThis online workshop meets on five Fridays in the Americas: Fridays\, September 18 – October 16\, from 5:00PM Pacific/7:00PM Central Time – 7:15PM Pacific/9:15PM Central Time. Plan to attend all sessions. (Central Time is UTC -5. To convert to other time zones\, click here.) \nIt’s heartbreaking to remain conscious and engaged in our crazy times. Everywhere we turn\, we experience the Great Unraveling of our society and our world: systemic racism\, the pandemic\, global climate change\, poverty\, mass extinctions\, etc. It’s clear we can’t continue with Business As Usual. The fear\, grief\, anger\, and helplessness we feel can be unbearable because it’s not just our personal pain; it’s the collective pain of all life on Earth. When we come together and honor our feelings about our world\, we realize our radical interconnectedness with all peoples and species\, and become part of the Earth healing herself. It is essential that we do this work now—root into the wisdom of our living planet\, heal our divisions and foster our resilience to take part in this transformation known as the Great Turning. \nIn this 5-part Work That Reconnect online workshop\, we grow our roots of resilience for these uncertain times as we move through the Spiral—beginning with Gratitude\, then Honoring Our Pain for the World\, Seeing with New and Ancient Eyes\, and Going Forth. Join us for this life-changing group experience that will help you restore your sense of purpose and possibility to address the complex nature of our times. \nCOST: We want to make this workshop available to everyone\, so we are offering a sliding scale: $200 – $100. Your generosity helps us continue this important work. If your contribution needs to be less than $100\, please contact us at kathleen@gaiawisdom.org. \nREGISTRATION: Class size is limited. Sign up soon to save a spot. Registration is at the top of the page. \nOnline Class Details\, Format\, and Schedule \nThis work is very interactive. There will be ample time for teachings\, experiential practices\, small group discussions\, large group sharing and community rituals. There will also be optional home practices\, readings\, and “buddy” calls. \nThis is a 5-part online workshop (11 hours total). We will meet via Zoom. \nClass 1 : Gratitude for Our World\nClass 2: Honoring Our Pain for the World\nClass 3: Seeing With New and Ancient Eyes\nClass 4: Deep Time with our Ancestors and Future Beings\nClass 5: Going Forth into the Great Turning \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKathleen Rude fell in love with the natural world as a young child and found her voice for environmental activism at age 10. She has a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology and an M.S. in Natural Resources. Kathleen began her career as an environmental writer. Her studies of indigenous spiritual practice eventually led her to become a shamanic practitioner\, ceremonial leader and teacher. She is a senior facilitator of the Work That Reconnects (WTR) and has been mentored by Joanna Macy. Kathleen has created A Guided Self-Practice of The Work That Reconnects (42 minutes)\, available as a digital download. She is the author of the novel\, The Redemption of Red Fire Woman\, a spiritual story of suspense and romance in the Colorado high country.

SUMMARY:Active Hope - Der ökologischen Krise mit kreativer Kraft und Resilienz entgegentreten
DESCRIPTION:We live in uncertain times. We all know it; we feel it. We sense these crisis-driven changes down to our very cells\, even if we often suppress it and simply lack the words to express the daily challenges we face. But we also fear that no one cares\, or that our fellow human beings might react with panic if we talk about what is causing us despair. Whether it involves ecological collapse\, systemic transgressions\, wars\, hunger\, species extinction\, or multiple crises\, our feelings and the ways we respond to the chaos are often similar. On the one hand\, these are marked by irrational behaviors such as blind activism; on the other hand\, they are dominated by defense mechanisms that lead us to believe in a world where everything is fine. Sometimes we experience both at the same time—panic or defense (psychic numbing)—and this state makes us doubt our mental health. We have long been aware of the causes and connections of everything that brings us pain and grief. There is no need for lengthy lectures on the subject; we have all the information we need…. \nJoanna Macy (1923–2025)\, a Buddhist systems scientist and activist\, has developed a seminar format that links systemic thinking and action in a unique interweaving of theory and practice\, with one of the foundations being trust in our own self-efficacy and trust in our own emotions\, which are an honest expression of how we experience our world. \nThe focus is on what we see\, feel\, and sense. Through various group dynamic exercises\, theoretical inputs\, and spiritual practice\, we invite participants to get to know the deep ecological process as an impetus for appropriate action.

SUMMARY:WTR Spiral for Parents
DESCRIPTION:Raising healthy\, joyful kids in this time of social\, economic and environmental collapse can feel like an impossible mission. As we rush around meeting the demands of everyday life\, many of us parents are carrying fear\, grief\, anger and anxiety about the world our children are living in and the future they’ll inherit. Without a safe space to express and work with these emotions\, we can wind up feeling alone\, overwhelmed and powerless. \n\nThis Work That Reconnects Spiral\, designed just for parents\, will help you transform those heavy feelings into renewed inspiration for parenting in these tumultuous times with empowerment and joy. \n\n\n\n\n\nIn this WTR Spiral we’ll come together as parents from around the world to connect with each other and bring our attention to the blessings and challenges that come with our parenting experience. \nAs we move through the spiral\, I’ll weave in New Paradigm Parenting insights from my book\, Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis\, so we can emerge from our time together with a deep grounding in Mutual Thriving and supportive strategies for nurturing thriving within our households. \nOur lives as parents are often busy and overextended. It can feel like we don’t have time to pause and reflect or to tend to our own needs. However\, as I’ve facilitated these sessions for parents over the past several years\, we’ve found that carving out this little bit of time for ourselves to gather with other parents and move through a facilitated Work That Reconnects spiral designed specifically for parents is a powerful way to care for ourselves so we can care for our children with even more groundedness and resilience. \nIf you are considering participating in the extended Parenting in Tumultuous Times program\, this introductory session is a great way to get a feel for New Paradigm Parenting and my facilitation. \n  \nThis two hour online session will be a fully interactive experience. It will not be recorded. Please only register if you are able to join us live and participate. In order to create an intimate container for connection please be prepared to be present for the entire session without distractions. \n  \n  \n\nPay As You’re Able\nThis session is offered by free-choice donation. If you’re feeling called to participate I want you to be with us\, regardless of how much you can afford to contribute. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. \nPlease give what you are able and feel welcomed. \nTo help guide your donation decision and give you a ballpark to work with the general suggested donation for this session is $25-35 USD. \nThere will be instructions on how to make this donation in the confirmation email you receive after you register. \n\nAbout Jo delAmor\n\n\n\nJo delAmor is a mom and a step-mom to two young adults (24 and 25 years old) and has cared for and worked with hundreds of other people’s children of all ages in a wide variety of situations from longterm co-parenting community to public schools\, from wilderness camps and preschools to in-home nannying over the last 30+ years. She has woven the insights and practical tools she’s gathered through all of this experience into her practice of New Paradigm Parenting and her forthcoming book Raising Children in the Midst of Global Crisis: A Compassionate Guidebook for New Paradigm Parenting \n  \n  \n\nWhat the parents are saying…\n“I am an introvert and was a little nervous for the breakout rooms\, but in the end found them to be so helpful and heartwarming. And a way to help us feel even more connected to everyone.” \n\n“Thank you Jo! This is hard\, painful work but I’m so happy that there are others doing it too <3” \n\n“I love the way you facilitate\, we can feel you so right there\, so present and sometimes so raw\, that’s precious because it awakens and calls us.”
