Dear Work That Reconnects Facilitator Applicant,
Thank you so much for the work you are doing in the world. At this time of global crises the Work That Reconnects is an excellent philosophical framework and set of practices to help us “cope with the mess we are in without going crazy.”
As more people around the world are discovering the Work That Reconnects and realizing its value, there are also more people wanting to facilitate the Work. The Work is open source, so anyone can use the practices as long as they acknowledge their source, Coming Back to Life by Joanna Macy and Molly Brown. However, Joanna Macy and the Work That Reconnects Network Weavers want the facilitators listed on workthatreconnects.org to have experienced the work deeply as workshop participants, studied the core texts Coming Back to Life and Active Hope, and other books by Joanna Macy, and be able to articulate and incorporate the core teachings and worldviews in workshops, as well as having facilitated the Work in a variety of settings. For that reason, the new application asks for more specific information about your background and experience. (Participation in a Facilitator Development Program is not required, but may help deepen your understanding, skills, and confidence.)
Before you consider applying, we suggest you check the section “becoming a facilitator“.
Here are three specific minimum requirements for being listed on the website:
- In-depth experience of the Work That Reconnects as a participant in at least a one-day workshop and a weekend workshop. People unable to find workshops in their region can meet this requirement through an extended study group.
- Reading/studying Coming Back to Life (2014 edition) and Active Hope, and articulating your understanding of the concepts and purposes of the Work That Reconnects (in the application).
- Have facilitated a minimum of two workshops of at least one day in length centered on the full Spiral of Work That Reconnects. (Incorporating a few WTR practices into other kinds of workshops does not fulfill this requirement.)
Thank you for all you are doing for the Great Turning.
Many blessings,
The Work That Reconnects Network Weavers & Core Staff
Constance, Frieda, Jo, Kathleen, Molly, Paula, Silvia and Werner
