The affirmative note we strike at the outset of the workshop will continue to reverberate. In the stages of the work and the practices that follow, notice how consistently gratitude is summoned. Even in Honoring Our Pain, we are reminded to be thankful– for the chance to speak the suffering, and for each other. Gratitude for the miracle of life, for each other, and for the motivation that brings us to this work are explicitly evoked in the Milling, the Remembering, the Cradling, the Bodhisattva Check-in. The Deep Time work fosters thankfulness for the gifts of ancestors and for the inspiration of the future generations, just as the practices surrounding the Council of All Beings bring gladness for our bonds to other life forms. The visioning and planning we do as we prepare to “Go Forth” help us to be aware of the vast resources we can draw upon, and to take grateful note of our own strengths, too.
