The Work That Reconnects Evolves Globally – Network Newsletter, October 2022

Frieda Nixdorf · Oct 27, 2022 · Leave a Comment

Dear Work That Reconnects Network Family and Friends,

The latest Deep Times journal gives us many glimpses into how the Work That Reconnects is evolving around the world. A couple of pieces in particular caught our eye.

In Earth-grief: Conversations for revealing and healing our kinship, Bridget Woods shares elements of a workshop series in South Africa, in which ritual rooted in African traditions wove together with practices long treasured within the Work That Reconnects.

日本でのアクティブ・ホープ〜福島への旅を通して, に 田嶋真紀 (Active Hope in Japan, by Maki Tajima) describes the Fukushima Learning Journeys, in which WTR practices provide a structure for receiving, and learning from, the stories of those directly affected by the ongoing nuclear power plant disaster.

Also in Deep Times, The Seer & the Believer, a poem by Shayontoni Ghosh from Hyderabad, India, describes the sacred space offered through the welcome presence of a neighborhood tree.

Shayontoni, a volunteer Weaver with the WTR Network since April, has accepted a position as a member of our paid administrative staff, joining Silvia, Jo and Frieda. She has just the skill set our team needs, and will continue to offer her wisdom and perspective as a valued member of our leadership team. Shayontoni stepped up to facilitate a recent WTR Spiral for our core team. In two swiftly passing hours, she guided us through the Spiral in a simple and creative way. We reflected on the many ways in which we each, in her words, “cultivate power for the community” in our efforts for the Great Turning.

Helen Sui, also a volunteer Network Weaver, recently led a weekend WTR workshop in Suzhou, China. She tells about the weekend, and the recent development of the WTR in China, in the article below.

Joanna Macy shares from her heart in a deeply felt conversation with Vicki Robin on the latest What Could Possibly Go Right? podcast from Post Carbon Institute. The conversation is an absolute delight, and it is profoundly moving to hear her articulate, in some new ways, the fruits of a passionate and enduring love affair with the gift of life. To listeners of all ages, she says: follow your emotions, they open the door.Yours in the Great Turning,

🌀 WTR Network Weavers Team
Constance, Frieda, Helen, Jo, Kathleen, Mutima, Paula, Shayontoni and Silvia
