Kevin Lay

I met two true loves in the womb: my identical twin brother and music. Our mom could not convince the doctor there were two of us because we kept our heartbeats synchronized. From boyhood onward, my third true love is Earth. Joanna opened me into ideas and practices which reveal and celebrate Earth as the locus of infinite emergent intelligences intertwined, many of which we all are part. After studying with her 10 years I began facilitating WTR workshops. Currently I mix into the work helpings of deep listening, music, and ecstatic dance.

Why I am called to facilitate the Work

The work that connects brings people together. In 2020 political divides around the globe emerged into plain view. If you put people who are divided into the WTR spiral they may find common ground and begin to imagine a bridge between themselves and those they regard as adversaries. It gives me hope for humans. In the long run the connections can be expanded into directly connecting with beings in the natural world.

How I see the Work serving the Great Turning

When humans recognize what they have in common with all other humans and with all life they will actively engage in taking care of this beautiful and wondrous planet.

Audiences I work with

People interested in connecting with one another and their surrounds through sound and the Work That Reconnects.

Background & Training

Other relevant skills & experiences

I am a professional composer, singer, and guitarist.

Experience facilitating other events & workshops

I hold a certificate in Deep Listening from the Deep Listening Institute, now at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York state. Deep Listening meditations awaken us to the present moment in powerful ways by practicing listening to all the sounds around us. This practice dovetails well with WTR because when we listen together our worlds expand.
