Jeffrey JohnsonEarth Holders Community of Plum Village Engaged Buddhists

I was born and raised on the Piedmont of the Mid-Atlantic region of North America, near the sounds and estuaries of Maryland and North Carolina and these brackish waters still call out to me and I return to them more and more as I grow older. I've taken a fifty year journey through movements for peace and social and economic justice, and now as an elder find myself working for climate justice. I've had a diverse working life: baker, printer, labor and community organizer, scientist, professor of global health and now at last retiree. I have practiced Zen Buddhism for many years and have been blessed to have Thich Nhat Hanh as my teacher. I have been deeply moved by the wisdom and joy I have experienced in the Work That Reconnects and hope to share what I've learned with my community.
