John lives Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and works as a consultant, runs community events, and helps develop non-profit organizations. He was first introduced to the Work That Reconnects through the Awakening the Dreamer Symposium of the Pachamama Alliance, and became a facilitator of that work in 2006 and traveled with it widely in Eastern Europe and South America, Canada, etc.. The Symposium integrates the Milling and Truth Mandala exercises from WTR. Having dabbled in the WTR, He's returning to it now in 2020. He has also had training and experience facilitating Open Space Technology, World Cafe, conflict management and is currently training in the mediation process.
Current community dev projects include the Edmonton Ecovillage Creation Hub, PACE-CANada, and the (eco-grief named) Doomer Institute of Canada. Curiously this last group has strong intention of working with WTR and will become a trauma-informed WTR hub which researches and de-pathologizes eco-grieving: people facing the consequences of Canada's ecological destruction and lack of preparedness for the green energy economy's inevitable kicking ass. Either way, WTR is desperately needed in this beautiful mess going forward.
Not surprisingly there's so much of this kind of thing happening in Alberta, a Canadian province with great ecological wonders with its vast borial forests, mountains, and prairies, while at the same time is a province with some of the greatest ecological, social, and spiritual disasters in Canada (the list is horrendously long). John is big on engaged spirituality and looks forward to working with the WTR community to help resolve this psychological impossibility for Albertans', Canadians', and everyone's interbeing on Big Mama.
