I conduct workshops on sustainability, environmental and social change and earth-based spirituality. I am also a shamanic practitioner and ceremonial leader in Earth-based tradition and an environmental writer/advocate with an M.S. in natural resources. I facilitates Council of All Beings, and one or two-day WTR workshops for adults, high school and college students. Emphasis can be more scientific or spiritual, depending on group. I also offer a 3- and 4-part series, Deepening in the Work That Reconnects.
Why I am called to facilitate the Work
I found my voice for environmental activism at age 10. My first career was an an environmental writer. When I first read about Joanna Macy and the Work in a 2006 Yes! Magazine article, I knew immediately that I wanted to study with her. Reading about Honoring Our Pain, I realized that, over my many years of activism, I had numbed out and that I needed this Work to heal myself.
My first 5-day intensive with Joanna changed my life, as this Work so often does. I love seeing the transformation in people that happens when they move through the Spiral. To witness people coming in to a workshop fatigued, depressed, hopeless and leaving inspired, energized and full of purpose is so healing for me. This is where I find my hope for the world—in the faces and hearts of everyone I’ve had the honor to facilitate in the Work.
How I see the Work serving the Great Turning
This Work reinvigorates us, helps us cultivate resilience, restores us, so we can be fully present to live our gifts and participate in The Great Turning.
Audiences I work with
I work with all kinds of audiences, from activists, religious/spiritual communities, high school and college students, concerned citizens, energy workers.
