I have been studying and facilitating the Work That Reconnects for the past 10 years, and using these techniques wherever I can -- motivated by my own need to make sense of the critical times in which we live and discern a path to a future that is just and thriving. I have also integrated Joanna’s teachings with those of Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi’s Spiritual Eldering work, creating my own series of workshops based on this natural synergy -- “Becoming Vibrant Elders in Our Evolving World.”

As an organizer I identify as an “elder activist” motivated by my love for my children, the beauty of our world and the passion I have for Life herself. Discovering that there was no website that served to inspire, educate and support elders in becoming activists concerned with leaving a viable legacy for future generations, I founded my website, Elder-Activists.org.

I serve on the Board of Elders Action Network and as a co-convener of the Elder Activists Social Justice team as we work together to build a movement of engaged elders addressing the challenges facing our world. I am a recent empty nester, living in Philadelphia, with my partner Mordechai Liebling. Together we have five children and a very young granddaughter.

Why I am called to facilitate the Work

The Work That Reconnects supports me in facing my own despair, anger, and suffering as I encounter the world in which we are living, and I therefore gratefully facilitate and share this work with others, and use it in my writing and organizing to work with others to address the critical issues that keep us awake at night.

How I see the Work serving the Great Turning

The Work That Reconnects, and Joanna Macy herself – are the best teachers that I have discovered who provide meaning, comfort, inspiration, and a methodology for understanding and responding to our beautiful but challenging world. The Work serves to not only provide for our intellectual understanding of the problems of our world, but also provides the spiritual and emotional resources and wisdom that nurture our whole beings, and provide the insight that is needed to keep us going as we face this Great Unraveling.

Audiences I work with
