In the 1980s, after reading Joanna Macy’s Despair and Empowerment in the Nuclear Age, I belonged for a while to a small facilitator's collective. Although I moved away after a couple of years from directly offering workshops, I have constantly integrated WTR ideas and activities into all my work as a trauma psychotherapist, an educator and a community activist. In 2002, after attending a retreat with Joanna, I resumed facilitating WTR retreats and workshops in a variety of settings, including three zoom programs during the pandemic. My primary co-facilitator (Jackie Larkin) and I have integrated a diversity of approaches into the work and, as white women, are committed to walking a path of decolonization. Jackie and I were featured facilitators in April 2019 and you can find out more about us on there. In 2021 I participated in two WTR network webinars on Trauma, Groups and the WTR, which are also available to view on this website. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend multiple retreats and trainings with Joanna Macy, including a month long gathering on the Oregon coast.
