When i was younger I was uncomfortable with human existence. The dominant story we lived in was, and still is, mostly one of humans being lords and masters of an inanimate universe, and this did not resonate with my own experience. Discovering Deep Ecology was like a homecoming. Here was a body of work that supported a deep sense of belonging to that which can't be fully articulated, and that for which there are few words. Even though i work in the corporate world, Deep Ecology informs what i think, feel, sense, do, ponder and how i support others in the work that i do.
Why I am called to facilitate the Work
I trained in this work more than a decade ago - over a year and a half period in Bath, UK - a deep experience facilitated by Jenny McEwan and Chris Johnstone, at a time when we lived in a different world, from our human perspective at least (generalizing here). A decade ago climate change was thought to be a hoax by many people, and veganism was for freaks. In the ensuing years, the dire consequences of us not growing up, and waking up as humans has suddenly manifested in so many ways, all around us. We need to find our way home, for our sake and for the sake of life itself. I know no better map for this journey than The Work That Reconnects
How I see the Work serving the Great Turning
This work invites and equips us to not look away, to be comfortable with discomfort, pain and suffering - our own, that of others and the Earth community at large. We are invited to do our own work, in community. We also learn, bear witness, ponder solutions and grow together as humans.
Audiences I work with
The corporate world mainly, and some pro bono work with NGOs.
