Sharon Monday

I have worked in the arena of social and environmental justice all of my adult life. My professional training is in public health; I have served as a consultant for over 20 years in peer group development and facilitation training. I teach undergraduate students at the University of Illinois. My husband and I live in San Diego in the winter months. We are active in Faith in Place and numerous environmental organizations. I have organized many retreats and conferences and have been part of a women's writing group for over a decade. I am a mother of two adopted children, a grandmother and love getting older and hopefully wiser! My vision is to be part of the beloved community doing life-affirming work.

Audiences I work with

I have worked with college age students at the University of Illinois and with adults of all ages who are working in the arenas of eco and social justice and spirituality. I have also taught environmental education to preschoolers and elementary school age children. I formed a neighborhood group for middle school children, Kids Saving Earth-Bluebird Chapter.

Experience facilitating other events & workshops

What year did you begin facilitating the Work That Reconnects?
I have taught listening skills and small group facilitation for over 20 years to undergraduate students and to adults who are facilitators of peer support groups. I practice meditation, yoga and participate in faith communities including a Unitarian Church in Vista, CA, a Unity Church and a Mennonite Church in Urbana, IL. I am a member of a women's writing group and mindfulness meditation practice. I have studied nonviolent communication using the Marshall Rosenberg process and have been in a NVC study group. I have led retreats and conferences for small and large groups on a variety of environmental, social justice and spiritual practices.
