Hi! My name is Vidar Vetterfalk. I am a Psychologist and International Project Manager at MÄN, Sweden.
I am an active member of MÄN since it started in 1993, and I am working with engaging boys and men for gender equality and against violence in Sweden and internationally. For MÄN and for me accountability is key and close cooperation with women’s movements are central in our development of holistic work with primary prevention with boys and men, support to women survivors of men’s violence as well as tertiary prevention with perpetrators. I grew up on a Biodynamic farm and one of my passions is to explore and highlight the interlinkages between gender equality, masculinity norms, the environment and the climate and how to engage more men to care together with others. I initiated the GeMiNI-network, a platform for gender equality organisations and environmental organisations to meet and develop new ideas and collaborations.
2017-2018 I joined the course One Year in Transiltion in Sweden where I first learned about the work that reconnects. Since then I have engaged in developing a material for reflective groups for men called "Men in the Climate Crises" in close cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and the transition garden Under Tallarna (Under the Pine Trees) in Järna, Sweden.
Practically the material is based on exercises and instructions which have been tested with five groups since the spring of 2018. Theoretically, the material is based on Martin Hultman and Paul Pulé's book Ecological Masculinities. Important inspiration for the methodology comes from The work that reconnects and Active hope , and we have added dimensions of masculinities, gender and power. The material is a prototype and is pilot tested now during 2020 in Sweden and internationally.
