Coming Back to Life: The Work that Reconnects
February 7, 2026 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm PST
Event Overview
When all we are shown is the imagery of ascent, we are left to interpret the times of descent as pathological; we feel that we are somehow failing.
Grief is not here to take us hostage, but instead reshape us in some fundamental way, to help us become our mature selves, capable of living in the creative tension between grief and gratitude. When we come to grief with reverence, we find ourselves in ‘right relationship’ with sorrow, neither to far away not too close.
– Francis Weller, The Wild Edge of Sorrow
Are you feeling alone, angry, numb, stuck or overwhelmed by the state of the world and wishing for a place where you are welcome to explore such responses together with others? Join us as we come together for Coming Back to Life, a practice inspired by the work of Joanna Macy and Molly Brown. Grounded in the teachings of the Work That Reconnects, we will embark on a journey of renewal, resilience, and shared empowerment. Through these gatherings, we will tap into our collective strength, move beyond despair, and discover our potential to protect and heal our world.
Anyone with some meditation experience is welcome – both people new to this approach and more experienced people who may be interested in becoming part of a team guiding these sessions. We aim to create an atmosphere of respect and care, where we can express ourselves authentically to whatever extent feels appropriate given our life circumstances. If you are experiencing any mental health issues, please get in touch with the facilitators prior to the event to discuss whether it is safe for you.
Facilitators: Sukhema and Ratnadevi, who both have led many workshops and retreats on the theme
