The Work That Reconnects Network acknowledges Joanna Macy with a deep bow and heart-felt gratitude for her wisdom and generosity in sharing the Work That Reconnects as “open source.”
For this reason there is no certification or official training required to facilitate the Work. The Work That Reconnects is a gift freely given.
This allows the Work to grow, diversify and adapt in creative ways to meet the needs of people in many countries and cultures.
Although no certification is required the WTR Network does offer guidelines and recommendations for those interested in facilitating the Work to support their learning and help them offer the Work in alignment with its lineage.
Honor the Source
When facilitating the Work That Reconnects, it is important to honor the roots of the Work and provide proper Open Source Attribution. Whether you are offering a workshop using the full WTR Spiral or using individual WTR practices as part of another kind of offering, please share the source of these practices with your participants in the following ways:
- Share that the practices you’re offering come from the body of work known as the Work That Reconnects
- Acknowledge Joanna Macy as the root teacher
- Share the names of the practices you chose to use and their source (i.e., Coming Back to Life, Active Hope, www.workthatreconnects.org).
- If any of the practices you’re using were created or adapted by another facilitator, be sure to acknowledge them by name
- If using an image originally created for Joanna’s books, the WTR Network website or Deep Times Journal, mention the source and the artist
- Direct your participants back to the Work That Reconnects Network website so they can learn more and connect with the global WTR community
Share a written attribution with your participants, whenever possible
- If you are using a slideshow presentation you can include a slide with the information.
- If you are meeting in person you may provide the information on printed materials.
- You are also encouraged to include the attribution information in a follow-up email to your participants along with a link to the WTR Network website (www.workthatreconnects.org)
