Cultivating Regenerative Livelihoods

Event Overview

The way we make a living is one of the main areas where we can create the change we want to see in the world. How many times we have faced this dilemma: our career or the work we do not match our values. Maybe they contribute to the harm and destruction by subtle ways through the business-as-usual structures and attitudes, maybe the harm is more obvious through the production of goods or services that perpetuate BAU (Business As Usual).

What if our careers and jobs could actually create a difference, not only for us (making our lives more regeneratives) but for others, by opening spaces and showing paths where the liberation invites and involves all?

Humans have worked since the dawn of humankind in every culture and society. The concept of work, job, call, life purpose, contribution to society or however we call it, has evolved and changes depending on the cultural context.

In this 10-week program, we will use the WTR spiral, among other approaches, to explore the roots of what we know as “work”, we will explore our purpose and needs, and how when honouring our pain for the world we can discover what makes us tick. Through the metaphor of a permaculture garden, we will learn to observe, assess and re-design our livelihoods.

Della Duncan: Della guides journeys upstream to the root causes of the challenges of our time to empower us to realize and re-member who we are, why we are here and how we can contribute to the Great Turning.
As a Renegade Economist and moral philosopher, plants in her regenerative livelihood garden include hosting the Upstream Podcast which challenges mainstream economic thinking through documentaries and conversations including most recently The Green Transition: The Problem with Green Capitalism and The Myth of Freedom Under Capitalism, supporting individuals as a Right Livelihood Coach, helping transition businesses and organizations as a post capitalist consultant, co-leading the California Doughnut Economics Coalition, and teaching and facilitating courses and retreats on Right Livelihood, the Work that Reconnects and Regenerative Economics around the world.

Silvia Di Blasio: With a lifelong passion and dedication to social justice, sustainability, and transformational change. With a degree in Psychopedagogie and Adult Education and a diploma in Career Counselling, Silvia has specialized on eLearning, curriculum design and facilitation for social change.
Silvia brings a long track record of working as an educator, curriculum designer, online specialist, career coach and facilitator in organizations that include, among others the Work That Reconnects Network, the Capra Course, the Permaculture Women’s Guild and three NGOs supporting immigrants and refugees in Canada.
