May 18, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am PDT

Event Overview

The Expanded Spiral is a special offering for the global Work That Reconnects community from the Social Justice Committee of the WTR Network.

As a social justice visionary, long-time facilitator of the Work That Reconnects and one of the root teachers of the Spiral Journey Foundation Program, Mutima Imani has witnessed and experienced a lot of harm in WTR spaces. Through her years of study and practice, she has come to acknowledge the need for additional steps to be added to the WTR Spiral. The Expanded Spiral, also called the Decolonized Spiral, is a culmination of Mutima’s years of research, practice and cultivated insight.

Shayontoni Rhea Ghosh is a young WTR facilitator who also serves as a staff weaver for the WTR Network. She brings her lived experience as a grassroots theatre-maker and writer living and working in India. She will be supporting Mutima in presenting the Expanded Spiral.

Join us for an educational and interactive workshop space, where we discuss the Expanded Spiral in depth, focusing on the new steps, and then practice them together. As you’re guided through this process you will experience for yourself how these additional steps bring self-awareness of our own social location, help us understand the systems of oppression caused by the Industrial Growth Society, and guide us towards powerful acts of liberation for self, community and the Earth.

The whole group portions of this webinar will be recorded. Activities and sharing that occur within breakout rooms will not be recorded. The recording will be available three days after the live webinar and will be sent by email to all those who are registered.

As part of the WTR Network Webinar & Conversation Cafe Program, this event is offered on a donation basis. We invite you to donate generously within your means and to feel free to join us even if you can’t contribute financially. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

If you are in China and find that you are having issues accessing the registration form and please contact Helen Sui to register for this event.
